DMT Forum 2025: Barcelona Hosts the Compass of Digital Transformation in Telecommunications

Feceminte brings together industry leaders in a key event to redefine the role of TELCOS, explore new business models, and award technological innovation in Catalonia

The telecommunications sector is undergoing a quiet yet unstoppable revolution. The DMT Forum 2025, held today at the headquarters of the Catalan Communications Market Commission (CMNC), has addressed the challenges, opportunities, and strategic changes facing companies in the digital ecosystem. Organized by Feceminte, the event gathered institutional representatives, business leaders, and industry professionals to analyze the digital transformation reshaping the rules of the game.

TELCOS: from network providers to enablers of digital ecosystems

The first thematic block of the forum focused on the role of telecommunications operators. Once simply providers of voice and data, they are now emerging as key players in delivering advanced digital services, integrating cloud solutions, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and smart platforms.

Moderated by Pedro Fernández (Onivia), the debate featured Eduardo Rodríguez de Miguel (MASORANGE), Jordi Liarte Pérez (Telefónica), and Óscar Salas Guiró (Vodafone), who emphasized the need to transition from infrastructure to personalization of services and value creation through digital experiences.

“Customers are no longer just seeking connection; they are looking for integrated solutions. TELCOS are building ecosystems, not just networks,” stated Rodríguez de Miguel.

New business models for a changing environment

The second discussion tackled a critical question: How do companies sustain themselves in the new digital landscape? The answers varied but were convergent: diversify, collaborate, and reinvent.

Joana Barbany (Michael Page and Digital Cluster of Catalonia), Juan José Berbel (Metyis), and Pere Porta (Huawei) shared strategies focused on alliances with startups, sustainability, internal reorganization, and long-term vision. Moderated by Jon Ortiz de Zárate (Accenture), this segment highlighted the importance of a change mindset today as much as the technological infrastructure.

Connexió Awards: a recognition of excellence in the ICT sector

As is tradition, the event included the presentation of the XXIV Connexió Awards, recognizing the contributions of outstanding entities and companies in advancing the sector. Awards were given in the categories of Business Dynamism, Institutional Initiative, and Business Excellence, reinforcing the awards’ reputation as a thermometer of innovation in Catalonia.

Networking: the other side of value

Beginning at 1:00 PM, the event set aside time for networking, a highly valued element among attendees. This moment served to exchange ideas, contacts, and projects in a relaxed atmosphere conducive to collaboration.

Feceminte: 55 years promoting telecommunications

The organization of the forum was handled by Feceminte, the Catalan Federation of Telecommunications Companies, which this year celebrates over five decades of fostering business and technological development in the sector. From installers to operators and consulting firms, the federation serves as a connection, advisory, and projection point for companies in Catalonia.

An event backed by the entire ecosystem

The DMT Forum 2025 received support from companies like Adamo, Aire Networks (Grupo Aire), Onivia, PTV Telecom, Vera, Parlem, Nexia, and Xarxa Oberta de Catalunya, as well as from the Government of the Generalitat, regulatory entities, and business associations. This backing confirms the event as a strategic and operational benchmark in telecommunications and digital transformation.
