Dell’Oro Strengthens Its Analytical Leadership with a New Research Director for Physical Infrastructure and Liquid Cooling in Data Centers

Alex Cordovil joins Dell’Oro Group with solid experience in energy solutions, cooling, and applied artificial intelligence in data centers.

The market analysis firm Dell’Oro Group, known for its expertise in telecommunications, security, networking, and data centers, has announced the appointment of Alex Cordovil as the new Research Director for Data Center Physical Infrastructure and Liquid Cooling, effective immediately.

Cordovil has over 20 years of professional experience, with the last five focused on critical data center infrastructure, including power systems, thermal management, IT racks, and associated services. He also has a strong background in strategic consulting, having worked for prestigious firms such as Bain & Company and leading specialized advisory firms.

In his new role, he will lead Dell’Oro’s research in key areas such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power distribution, thermal management, liquid cooling, and physical structures for data centers—sectors that are undergoing rapid transformation due to the rise of artificial intelligence and edge computing.

“We are delighted to bring in someone with such strong analytical capabilities,” said Tam Dell’Oro, founder and CEO of the firm. “The way Alex organizes and explains complex topics is admirable, and his background in energy and cooling for data centers will significantly strengthen our team of analysts.”

For his part, Cordovil commented:

“After years relying on Dell’Oro reports as a strategic tool, it is a privilege to now contribute from within. At a pivotal moment for the data center industry, I aspire to bring clarity and vision to our clients, supported by a team of leading experts.”

Before joining Dell’Oro, Alex Cordovil held strategic roles at Vertiv, where he played an active role in designing business initiatives focused on artificial intelligence and developing a partner ecosystem around power and cooling solutions for data centers.

Cordovil holds a degree in engineering from École Centrale Paris—where he received the prestigious Eiffel Excellence Scholarship—and from the University of São Paulo, where he ranked among the top candidates out of over 100,000 applicants. He also has a master’s degree in Modern and Contemporary Art from Christie’s Education, awarded with distinction.
