Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) has today announced a significant expansion in its data protection portfolio, including appliances, software, and as-a-service offerings, to help customers strengthen cyber resilience against the increasing cyber attacks.
In its annual “Global Data Protection Index (GDPI) 2024” report, Dell revealed that 75% of organizations consider their current data protection measures insufficient against ransomware threats, and nearly 70% doubt their ability to reliably recover from a cyber attack. These statistics highlight the growing need for advanced solutions in a world increasingly dependent on artificial intelligence (AI) and generative data.
Arthur Lewis, President of the Infrastructure Solutions Group at Dell Technologies, highlighted the importance of this expansion: “With the exponential growth of data and AI, organizations are finding both opportunities to improve processes and decision-making as well as new significant risks. We are expanding our digital landscape and, with it, vulnerabilities, which increases the reliance on reliable solutions like the ones we offer to protect data wherever it resides.”
The new Dell PowerProtect Data Domain DD9410 and DD9910 systems are designed for large enterprises, offering enhanced performance for traditional and modern workloads, providing customers with up to 38% faster backups and up to 44% faster restores. These systems not only increase cybersecurity and resilience but also improve efficiency, consuming up to 11% less energy and offering industry-leading deduplication.
Phil Goodwin, IDC’s Vice President of Research, commented on the importance of these advancements: “With the increasing cyber threats, the demand for high-performance data protection systems has never been higher. Dell’s portfolio of data protection solutions supports numerous best practices to help organizations modernize their data protection and cyber recovery environment.”
The integration of artificial intelligence also plays a crucial role in Dell’s new offering, with the introduction of Dell APEX Backup Services AI. This integrated AI assistant for backup and recovery allows customers to optimize protection processes, with capabilities including real-time customized reporting, assisted analysis of backup and security postures, and intelligent recommendations tailored to specific environments.
Finally, Direct Storage Protection in Dell PowerProtect Data Manager offers native integration with Dell PowerMax enterprise storage for fast, efficient, and secure backups and recoveries. This solution is designed to streamline operations with centralized management and orchestration, and multicloud support for PowerProtect Data Domain replication and cloud storage.
The Dell PowerProtect Data Domain DD9410 and DD9910 systems are now available globally, as well as Dell APEX Backup Services AI. Storage Protection for Dell PowerMax will be available worldwide in the third quarter of 2024.
