In a significant move within the telecommunications sector, Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) have announced the extension of their strategic alliance. This renewed collaboration focuses on advancing the adoption of open network architectures and the development of private 5G use cases among enterprises, leveraging the industry-leading solutions of both companies.
As part of the agreement, Nokia will incorporate Dell as its preferred infrastructure partner for current Nokia AirFrame customers, promoting Dell’s technology as the preferred infrastructure option for telecommunications cloud deployments. Together, Nokia and Dell will facilitate the transition of existing AirFrame customers to Dell’s extensive range of infrastructure, including the Dell PowerEdge servers specifically designed for modern telecommunications network workloads, from core to edge and RAN.
Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud (NDAC) private wireless solution will become Dell’s preferred private wireless platform for enterprise edge use cases. Both companies will collaborate to integrate Nokia’s NDAC solution with Dell NativeEdge, the software platform for edge operations, providing a complete and scalable solution for enterprises.
“Dennis Hoffman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Telecom Systems Business at Dell Technologies, said: “Through our collaboration, Nokia and Dell Technologies will leverage each company’s expertise and extensive distribution to rapidly and simply scale modern telecommunications networks and private 5G use cases. With decades of experience in digital transformation, we are ready to work together with Nokia’s customers on their continued journey from network cloud transformation to the industry’s best-selling computing platform.”
Nishant Batra, Chief Strategy and Technology Officer at Nokia, stated: “This strategic alliance will make both companies more flexible and capable of better serving the future needs of customers. Dell’s digital transformation expertise and global scale, services, and support will offer a seamless transition option for Nokia AirFrame customers, and Nokia’s extensive experience in designing, implementing, and operating high-performance public and private mobile networks will provide Dell’s customers with a complete and scalable private wireless solution.”
Furthermore, the companies will continue their joint efforts in research and development and platform and application testing in the Dell Open Telecom Ecosystem Lab. Dell and Nokia plan to certify workloads on the Dell Telecom Infrastructure Blocks that support Nokia’s cloud offerings, while continuing to collaborate on OEM engagements.
This alliance not only highlights Dell Technologies’ and Nokia’s continued commitment to innovation in the telecommunications sector, but also underscores their dedication to providing solutions that meet the growing demands of modern networks and private 5G.
