Commvault announces the acquisition of Appranix to accelerate and advance cyber resilience for businesses.

Commvault, a leader in cyber resilience and data protection solutions for hybrid cloud environments, has announced the acquisition of Appranix, a company specialized in cyber resilience in the cloud. This acquisition aims to help businesses recover more quickly from service disruptions or cyber attacks.

According to Statista, the average downtime after a ransomware attack is 24 days. Commvault aims to minimize this time by helping its customers restore data more efficiently through automation and its innovative next-generation clean room offering. However, rapid data recovery is just one part of the solution.

Rebuilding critical applications in the cloud requires addressing various dependencies, such as network configuration, DNS, application load balancing, and access to security groups, among others. Appranix specializes in automating these processes, which can significantly reduce the infrastructure rebuild time from days or weeks to just hours or minutes in some cases.

“We are taking cyber resilience to the next level by combining Commvault’s extensive risk, readiness, and recovery capabilities with Appranix’s next-generation cloud-native rebuild capabilities,” says Sanjay Mirchandani, President and CEO of Commvault. “We are thrilled to welcome Appranix to the Commvault family.”

“Joining the Commvault family is an exciting and natural step for Appranix as we transform the market together,” emphasizes Govind Rangasamy, founder and CEO of Appranix. “We share a common vision to go beyond traditional backup and disaster recovery. Our combined technologies will offer complete and unmatched resilience capabilities for businesses worldwide.”

“Comprehensive cyber resilience is a goal that most enterprise customers aspire to. This acquisition brings cyber resilience to life quickly by extending automated rebuild capabilities to distributed and dynamic applications in the cloud,” comments Archana Venkatraman, Director of Research, Cloud Operations and Data Management at IDC.

The Appranix team will join Commvault imminently, and the integration of Appranix technology into the Commvault solution portfolio is expected to be completed during this summer. In the meantime, customers can leverage Appranix for their cloud application discovery and rebuild requirements through the marketplaces of AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
