Colt Launches “Managed LEO+” to Enhance Connectivity in Remote Areas with Satellite and 5G Technology

Colt Technology Services has announced the launch of “Managed LEO+”, a new managed service that combines low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity with 4G and 5G networks, aimed at improving coverage in rural and hard-to-reach areas. This service is already available in 65 countries, including Japan, and is designed to provide a reliable and high-performance alternative to fiber optics in key sectors such as industry, manufacturing, commerce, and healthcare.

A solution for connectivity in isolated areas

The growing demand for digital infrastructure in remote areas has led Colt to integrate its terrestrial network with low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology, a solution that allows for faster connections with lower latency compared to traditional geostationary satellites.

According to Annette Murphy, Chief Commercial Officer of Colt, “companies located in regions with limited access to high-speed networks often face barriers to digitalization, innovation, and integration into the global economy. With Managed LEO+, we aim to eliminate those limitations by providing high-performance, fully managed connectivity.”

The service has been successfully tested in collaboration with a global biopharmaceutical company that required a secure and sustainable network to manage data between its research and production centers in over 30 countries. The solution offered by Colt allowed the company to enhance the integration of digital tools, optimize supply chain management, and reinforce the security of its operations.

Rapid deployment and simplified management

One of the highlights of Managed LEO+ is its ease of deployment. Once the feasibility study and client approval are completed, the installation of the service can be carried out in less than 24 hours, including the installation of satellite antennas, performance testing, and system optimization.

The management model from Colt allows companies to access this technology without having to worry about the complexity of the infrastructure, as the company takes care of the maintenance and administration of the service. This makes it an attractive option for businesses looking for a reliable solution without significant initial investments.

A connectivity ecosystem with global coverage

Colt is known for its high-capacity telecommunications infrastructure and its focus on connectivity solutions for businesses. The company operates a fiber optic network in over 40 countries and manages 10 submarine cable systems that interconnect continents. With the addition of Managed LEO+, Colt complements its terrestrial network with satellite connectivity, offering a telecommunications ecosystem that spans terrestrial, maritime, and satellite networks.

In the words of Keri Gilder, CEO of Colt: “Our goal is to offer solutions that enable businesses to operate without geographical limitations. Managed LEO+ represents the next step in our strategy to provide robust, secure, and efficient connectivity anywhere in the world.”

A commitment to sustainability and the future of connectivity

In addition to enhancing connectivity, Colt has designed Managed LEO+ with a focus on energy efficiency and carbon emission reduction. The service is optimized to minimize energy consumption, reducing reliance on traditional infrastructures and promoting the use of sustainable solutions in the telecommunications sector.

With this new offering, Colt reaffirms its commitment to innovation and digital transformation, facilitating access to cutting-edge technologies and ensuring that no company is left behind in the era of global connectivity.
