Cirion Technologies reorganizes its leadership team: Santiago Londoño and Nelson Fonseca take over Connectivity and Data Centers

Cirion Technologies, a digital infrastructure company, has announced a significant leadership transition. As part of a new chapter in its growth strategy in Latin America, Santiago Londoño and Nelson Fonseca have been appointed CEO of the Connectivity and Data Centers business units, respectively. Both will report directly to the Board of Directors.

This announcement follows Facundo Castro’s departure as the company’s CEO, though he will remain involved as a Board member. Castro, with over 25 years at Cirion, played a key role in transforming the company since its separation from Lumen Technologies in 2022, leading strategic investments in fiber networks and new data centers across the region.

“I am very proud of what we’ve achieved at Cirion and the positive impact we have made on our clients and communities in Latin America,” Castro said in his farewell as CEO. “Cirion is well positioned for continued growth, and I have full confidence in Santiago and Nelson to carry this evolution forward.”

Operational separation to drive growth

This restructuring aligns with the formal split of the Connectivity and Data Centers business units, a strategy that enables each division to focus more directly on maximizing the value of its segment, while still leveraging the cross-functional capabilities of the Cirion group.

Andrew Thomas, senior CEO at Stonepeak — an investment fund and Cirion’s Board member — expressed his gratitude to Castro and supported the new leadership:

“We deeply appreciate Facundo’s dedication and commitment. We fully trust Santiago and Nelson, whose backgrounds and experience ensure a strong transition and a clear path for each business area.”

Complementary careers, shared vision

Santiago Londoño, who joined Cirion in April 2025 as President of the Connectivity unit, has over 25 years of international telecommunications experience. He has held senior roles at companies such as Millicom, Liberty Latin America, Despegar.com, and McKinsey & Company.

“It’s an honor to be appointed CEO of Connectivity alongside Nelson,” Londoño said. “Our common goal is to drive innovative solutions, open new opportunities for growth and innovation, and build a future-ready digital ecosystem in Latin America.”

Nelson Fonseca, leading the Data Centers business since February 2024, has spearheaded key initiatives including the development of new centers in Lima (Peru) and Santiago (Chile). He previously served as CEO of Cyxtera, a global leader in the sector.

“I’m excited to work with Santiago to accelerate Cirion’s growth,” Fonseca shared. “Our focus will be on continuing to lead with top-tier digital infrastructure solutions for large-scale clients, operators, and companies facing unprecedented data center capacity demands.”

A key provider for Latin America’s digital future

With over 5,500 clients, Cirion is now one of the leading digital infrastructure players in the region. Its owned terrestrial and submarine networks, combined with a robust portfolio of connectivity, interconnection, and data center services, allow it to serve enterprises, government agencies, cloud providers, ISPs, and both mobile and fixed carriers.

The shift to dual management reflects Cirion’s commitment to optimize operations, adapt swiftly to the exponential growth of digital demand in Latin America, and position itself as a strategic partner within an increasingly competitive technological ecosystem.
