CIBITEC25 Strengthens Ties Among Ibero-American Engineering with an Edition Focused on Industry, Sustainability, and Artificial Intelligence

The Ibero-American Congress on Engineering and Technology will take place on May 28 and 29 between Madrid and Santo Domingo, featuring a comprehensive program that includes industry, technology, and academic leaders.

On May 28 and 29, 2025, the VII edition of the Ibero-American Congress on Engineering and Technology (CIBITEC25) will be held, a key event that will bring together prominent experts from the fields of engineering, technological innovation, and industrial sustainability. Organized by the Association and the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Madrid (AIIM and COIIM) in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the University of the Caribbean, and the international consultancy Arthur D. Little, the congress will be hosted in both Madrid and Santo Domingo.

Since its founding in 2017, CIBITEC has promoted technical and strategic dialogue between Spain and Latin America with the goal of strengthening digitalization, industrialization, and technological cooperation. In the words of César Franco, president of the Association of Industrial Engineers of Madrid and dean of the College, "CIBITEC has established itself as a forum where engineering leads the way in building an innovative and sustainable future on both sides of the Atlantic."

A High-Level Program

The CIBITEC25 program includes a rich agenda of presentations, round tables, and dialogues with key figures from the industrial, technological, and governmental sectors. Highlights of the second day, Wednesday, May 29, include:

  • Institutional Opening (9:15 AM), featuring Jordi García Brustenga, General Director of Industrial Strategy at the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, and Matías González Martín, Secretary General of Telecommunications at the Ministry for Digital Transformation.

  • Dialogue on the Industrial Law and the Future of the Industrial Sector (9:40 AM) with executives such as Bernardo Velázquez (Acerinox), Carmen González Gens (Huawei Technologies Spain), and José Mª Martínez-Val (F2I2).

  • Automotive Panel (10:25 AM) with representatives from Volvo Car Spain, Iberdrola, Gestamp, ANFAC, and Faconauto, discussing innovation, sustainability, and electrification.

  • Defense Industry Session (11:40 AM) with participation from Lieutenant General Miguel Ivorra and leaders from Airbus, GDELS Santa Bárbara Sistemas, Grupo Oesía, and Navantia.

  • Round Table on Artificial Intelligence (12:55 PM) featuring Ismael Gómez (OEI), Guillermo Fernández de Peñaranda (Airtificial), and Ana Gómez Galindo (NTT Data), among others.

  • Panel on Digital Infrastructure Development (1:35 PM), moderated by Manuel Sampedro (Arthur D. Little), with experts such as Eulalia Flo (Equinix), Ignacio Velilla (Templus), Eduardo Barros (Five Infinitum), Francisco Porras (MERLIN Properties), and Paco González, CEO of Quetta Data Centers, who will share insights on the company’s approach to data center expansion and optimization.

  • Infrastructure Financing Session (3:30 PM) featuring experts from Banco Santander, Cofides, Suma Capital, Armilar, and the BCIE.

Ibero-American Connection and Future Outlook

The program will also include sessions broadcasted from Santo Domingo addressing strategic topics such as higher education in Ibero-America, critical raw materials, and semiconductors. The day will include remarks from Franklin García Fermín, Minister of Higher Education of the Dominican Republic, and representatives from institutions such as UNICARIBE, UNIBE, UPM, and Complutense University.

Additionally, a session dedicated to innovation and entrepreneurship will showcase startups like Intrustial, Kigüi, and Biorrefinerías del Perú, reflecting the dynamism of the Ibero-American technological ecosystem.
