Carrier has become the first manufacturer to obtain Eurovent Certified Performance for air-water chillers with integrated free-cooling via air-water coils. These units are designed for data center applications and industrial processes, further highlighting Carrier’s leadership in HVAC innovation.
Eurovent Certified Performance is a globally recognized brand of operational excellence that ensures manufacturers’ performance statements through independent testing and evaluations. The AquaForce® 30XF air-water chillers with free-cooling option from Carrier’s range are now certified, ensuring their energy-efficient operation and allowing data center operators and properties to make accurate predictions of annual energy consumption under various load conditions. The certification also validates the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) and the Seasonal Performance Energy Ratio (SEPR) of the unit, key metrics that measure efficiency over time and under different operating conditions, rather than merely measuring peak performance.
“Carrier has long been a pioneer in providing high-performance HVAC solutions, and this certification reinforces our commitment to transparency, reliability, and innovation,” says Michel Grabon, Product Marketing and Vertical Markets Engineering Director at Carrier Commercial HVAC, EMEA. “Data centers demand precise and energy-efficient cooling. Even the best-designed and installed data center will perform below expectations if the product’s assumed performance does not align with the manufacturer’s claims. With this globally recognized certification, data center operators can fully trust that our 30XF chiller can deliver the cooling capacity and energy efficiency that we claim.”
The AquaForce® 30XF is designed to meet the strict requirements of modern data centers, functioning efficiently at outdoor air temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 55 °C, with thermal capacities from 390 kW to 2,100 kW. The unit incorporates very low GWP refrigerant R-1234ze, contributing to sustainability goals, and features total free-cooling that enables reduced energy consumption.
The rigorous Eurovent testing conducted by third parties on the 30XF range certifies all operational modes (cooling via free-cooling, mechanical cooling, and mixed cooling), ensuring high-performance operation under the variable conditions of data centers.
“Carrier’s integrated free-cooling process chillers with Eurovent certification offer independently verified performance, providing data center operators with complete confidence in their cooling infrastructure,” stated Mustafa Dilsen, Head of Commercial and Industrial Thermodynamics at Eurovent Certification. “This certification allows data center operators to predict operating costs with high reliability and accuracy, facilitating optimized energy use and compliance with stringent energy targets, system robustness, and ensuring uptime requirements demanded by their operations.”
As the first manufacturer to receive the Eurovent Certified Performance mark for integrated free-cooling process chillers, Carrier reinforces its role as a technology leader in the data center cooling market. This achievement underscores the company’s commitment to delivering energy-efficient, high-performance solutions that address the critical needs of the digital infrastructure sector.
