Carlos Posa Takes Over as CEO of Bluevía During a Key Stage for the Company

The FTTH fiber optic infrastructure operator Bluevía has announced the appointment of Carlos Posa as its new CEO. This decision, unanimously approved by the company’s Board of Directors, marks the beginning of a new phase in its evolution, focused on commercialization and strategic growth after completing the deployment of 5 million passed properties in Spain.

The chairman of Bluevía’s Board of Directors and CEO of Telefónica España, Sergio Oslé, emphasized the importance of this milestone: “Bluevía has fulfilled its deployment commitments, bringing ultra-broadband access to rural areas and contributing to Telefónica España’s leadership in fiber. We are very grateful to Luis Rivera for his dedication and trust that, under Carlos Posa’s leadership, Bluevía will accelerate its commercialization and achieve new successes.”

A Strategic Leadership Transition

Carlos Posa, who until now held the position of Director of Devices, Supply Chain, and Circular Economy at Telefónica España, has a broad trajectory within the group, where he has played key roles in commercial and strategic areas. His career began in 2005 as the Director of Terminals in the international area of Telefónica Móviles, and he later held positions such as CEO of Telyco and Director of the Convergent Segment, Freelancers, and Horeca at Telefónica España. Before joining the group, he worked as a business consultant at Europraxis.

Posa expressed his enthusiasm for this new challenge: “I am proud to join Bluevía at a crucial moment for its development. My goal is to intensify our commercial momentum, maximize the value of our network, and continue fostering the operational excellence that characterizes the company.”

Recognition for Luis Rivera

The Board of Directors of Bluevía thanked Luis Rivera, the outgoing CEO, for his leadership during the initial phase of the project. Rivera will continue to be linked to the Telefónica Group in other strategic roles. During his tenure, Bluevía successfully deployed its fiber optic network in record time, overcoming significant technical and logistical challenges to connect millions of homes in rural areas.

Fabrice Garus, Director of Investments at Vauban Infrastructure Partners, emphasized the importance of Rivera’s leadership: “Luis has been fundamental in achieving Bluevía’s initial objectives. Now, with Carlos Posa at the helm, the company is well-positioned to tackle new commercialization and expansion challenges.” Moreover, Matthieu Lance, representative of Crédit Agricole Assurances, highlighted the network’s impact on reducing the digital divide in Spain.

Focus on Commercialization and the Future

With the network of 5 million passed properties now complete, Bluevía is preparing to enter a growth phase based on the commercialization of its wholesale services. This advancement not only reinforces Telefónica España’s positioning as a leader in fiber optic connectivity but also significantly contributes to reducing the digital divide in underserved rural areas.

The appointment of Carlos Posa symbolizes Bluevía’s commitment to innovation, sustainable development, and strengthening its position in the fiber optic infrastructure market. The company, supported by its robust network and renewed leadership, aims to establish itself as a benchmark in the sector.
