During the second edition of the Bizkaia PGAe Open, 144 professional golfers gathered at the La Arbolera golf course. To offer the best possible connectivity, FENITEL deployed a Wi-Fi network with counting, to which more than 21,000 unique devices connected.
A few days later, at the same location, FESTELKO 2023 was held, organized by FENITEL, with ABITEL-Bizkaia as the host, where WIFINOVA offered a value-added solution to the event. In this case, 4 Wi-Fi 6/6E access points were installed in the main building. On its second day, 43,600 unique devices connected.
The technology used was from Cambium Networks, a leading manufacturer of wireless connectivity solutions distributed by Wifidom. 4 XE3-4 indoor equipment with Wi-Fi 6/6E technology with software-defined triple radio and triple band 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz with 4×4/2×2 MU-MIMO management capability were utilized, integrating the captive portal TUWI and the Netnova platform from WIFINOVA, offering Public Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Marketing, and Counting simultaneously.
According to Fernando Huerva, President of FENITEL, “attendees were able to experience the Wi-Fi service with a completely stable solution. One of our goals is to train our member companies in all types of telecommunications solutions, and today this experience shows that, with good manufacturers, we can offer quality solutions to end customers.”
Using the existing FTTH connectivity in the offices, a pilot service was offered on the premises, where the counting was a surprise. “We couldn’t imagine that Wi-Fi serves for more than just connecting at work,” says Carlos Roca, Managing Director of Meaztegi Golf Club. “In addition,” he adds, “the personalized and multilingual TUWI portal allows informing customers and visitors, optimizes management, and simplifies user access. The counting was very interesting, and the system allows connecting elements throughout the field without cables.”

II Edition Bizkaia PGAe Open
Previously, on June 20, the II Edition Bizkaia PGAe Open was also held at La Arboleda, with 144 Spanish and international professional players, as well as the best national amateurs per test.
The Pro-am of the Bizkaia PGAe Open was the day with the most detected devices, with 21,094 unique devices, with the peak moment being between 3 to 4 pm with 5,203 devices.
