Providers, companies, and industrial network operators in the USA and Canada can now deploy speeds exceeding 1 Gbps with the new Cambium Networks ePMP 4600 6 GHz fixed wireless technology for outdoor use. The FCC has approved the ePMP 4600 and 4600L access points, as well as the Force 4625 and 4600C subscriber modules, for commercial operation in the 6 GHz band.
The unlicensed 6 GHz spectrum utilizes an Automatic Frequency Coordination (AFC) service, which has also been approved and is operational. This solution has been successfully tested by over 130 broadband service providers within the FCC’s experimental licensing program. Additionally, Canada’s ISEDC has approved the use of this product set in all provinces of the country.
“Morgan Kurk, President and CEO of Cambium Networks, stated, “Thanks to the experimental licensing program, this is one of our most rigorously field-tested technologies. Cambium’s ONE Network offers a proven complete solution. When ePMP is combined with LIDAR-based planning tools, cloud-based centralized management with AI-enabled monitoring, Quality of Experience (QoE) optimization, and cnMatrix TX switching solutions, broadband service providers can deliver exceptional residential and business connectivity at attractive prices.”
ePMP 4600 6 GHz Fixed Wireless Broadband Technology
The ePMP 4600 is the fourth generation of Cambium’s ePMP platform and supports the entire 6 GHz spectrum (UNII-5 and UNII-7). Millions of Cambium Networks ePMP radios have been deployed worldwide leveraging this proven and scalable technology for over 10 years. The ePMP platform offers scalability with up to 120 subscribers per sector, interference tolerance with MU-MIMO and beamforming, and capabilities of up to 4 Gbps per sector. With the ePMP 4600, operators can affordably provide services in both low-density rural areas and high-density suburban areas, with a total cost of ownership aligned with the market economy.
Differentiators of the ePMP 4600 platform:
– Scalability and interference mitigation with its unique air interface.
– Over-the-air efficiency with the 802.11ax standard and ePMP overlays such as TDD synchronization, SmartQoS, and frame optimization.
– Noise isolation with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), Multi-User Multiple Input Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) on both the uplink and downlink in the short-term roadmap, and TDD synchronization.
ePMP Force 4625 6 GHz Fixed Wireless Subscriber Module
The Force 4600 series of subscriber modules (SM) is available in two formats: the Force 4600C with connector and the Force 4625 with integrated antenna.
Both models include:
– High capacity and latencies under 5 ms when using ePMP technology. Air interface tested on 802.11ax technology.
– Interoperability with the ePMP 4600 Series AP using MU-MIMO to achieve over 4 Gbps per sector by transmitting to two ePMP 4600 Series SMs simultaneously.
– Security features that meet the requirements of enterprise, industrial, government, and service provider users.
– Managed through Cambium Networks’ cnMaestro™ management system to facilitate provisioning, monitoring, and updates.
– Network planning with LINKPlanner and cnHeat.
– 3-year hardware warranty and support from Cambium Networks.
– Each SM includes an Ethernet power injector and mounting hardware for pole installation.
– The Force 4600C and access points include an integrated GPS mechanism for geolocation data. For the Force 4625, this GPS receiver is ordered separately.
Automatic Frequency Coordination: Simplified and Cost-Free
Cambium Networks equipment can operate in 850 MHz of the 6 GHz spectral band assigned by the FCC and 1200 MHz assigned by Canadian authorities. Cambium Networks closely collaborates with Qualcomm Technologies and leverages its turnkey automated frequency coordination package.
Cambium Networks makes the AFC process transparent for the service provider. With the AFC interface integrated into the radio, the service provider can easily utilize the AFC service without additional costs or complications.
6 GHz Spectrum Availability Tool
The unlicensed 6 GHz spectrum in the USA and Canada requires each radio to connect to the AFC service (Automatic Frequency Coordination). This interface is included in every 6 GHz radio and reports the available channels at the radio’s deployment location. Cambium’s 6 GHz spectrum availability tool gives operators the ability to check available channels in any chosen location beforehand. By selecting the deployment location, the tool responds with the channel availability and power level that would be seen when deploying the radio in that location. This tool will be available very soon.
