Bruce Owen, New President of Equinix for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa

Equinix, the global leader in digital infrastructure, has appointed Bruce Owen as its new President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Owen, a veteran with over 14 years at the company, takes on this role with the aim of leading Equinix’s strategy and growth in one of the most dynamic and crucial regions for global digital transformation.

A Strong Track Record in Service of Innovation

Bruce Owen joined Equinix in 2010 as part of the EMEA Corporate Development and Finance team. Since then, he has held various strategic roles both in Europe and the United States, including leading the global Financial Planning and Analysis team, serving as Chief of Staff to the CEO, and holding the position of Vice President of Business Operations. Additionally, Owen was the founder of the Global Community and Belonging team, which launched the Equinix Foundation, reflecting his commitment to social responsibility.

In 2023, Owen took on the role of Managing Director for the United Kingdom, Equinix’s largest market in EMEA, overseeing 14 facilities from London to Manchester, which accounted for over a quarter of regional revenue that year. His ability to combine innovation, leadership, and strategic partnerships has been key in his career within the company.

Strategic Priorities in EMEA

As President of EMEA, Owen will be responsible for managing the strategy, growth, and integration of acquired businesses in the region. In a context where digitization is advancing rapidly, his leadership will focus on delivering innovative solutions that enable Equinix customers to accelerate their digital transformation processes.

Owen will also play a key role in engaging with governments and local communities, as well as promoting a culture of inclusion and innovation within Equinix. As he stated, “The EMEA region is crucial for our company, with global and local customers rapidly digitizing and expanding their operations on our platform.”

A Forward-Looking Leadership Change

Owen succeeds Eugene Bergen, who retired in 2024 after leading the region since 2019. Bergen left a legacy of expansion and consolidation in the EMEA market, a strategic point for global digital infrastructure. With his experience and vision, Owen will continue this work and take the region to new levels of innovation and growth.

Jon Lin, Equinix’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the importance of this appointment by stating, “Bruce has been an exceptional leader since he joined in 2010. His ability to drive growth, foster innovation, and build strategic partnerships makes him the ideal person to lead EMEA at this pivotal moment for the industry.”
