Bitrise, the leading DevOps platform for mobile applications, has announced the opening of its first data center in the European Union, located in the Netherlands. With this initiative, Bitrise becomes the first mobile DevOps platform to offer a fully managed and hosted environment within the EU, responding to the growing demand for data sovereignty and regulatory compliance on the continent.
The $3 million investment supports the forecast of a 22% annual growth in European data center capacity by 2025, driven by the need for operational resilience and local data control. The new infrastructure will allow tech companies and other regulated industries to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other European regulations without compromising speed or innovation.
“In an era marked by geopolitical volatility and increasing regulatory complexity, mobile innovation in Europe demands sovereignty, speed, and security,” said Barnabás Birmacher, CEO and co-founder of Bitrise.
### More Control for European Customers
The Amsterdam data center will replicate the infrastructure model that the company already operates in the United States, based on high-performance machines with Apple Silicon M4 and Linux environments. This allows Bitrise to offer companies the option to choose the location of their data residency—a feature particularly sought after by European firms concerned about regulatory compliance and exposure to international data transfers.
The new facility will be equipped with advanced physical and network security measures, as well as high-speed connectivity to minimize application build and testing times. Additionally, it ensures that clients’ source code does not leave the European Union at any point in the process.
“We are responding to a critical market need,” Birmacher noted. “Our ability to deploy and scale infrastructure quickly, with a validated model, allows us to provide a reliable solution in a highly regulated environment.”
### A Decisive Step for European Digital Resilience
This initiative comes at a pivotal moment for the European tech sector. Market estimates project that the data center sector in Europe will grow by €291.7 billion between 2024 and 2028. This trend is largely driven by the need to reduce dependence on U.S. providers and facilitate compliance with regulations like GDPR and the NIS2 Directive.
Many European companies, especially in sensitive sectors such as finance, healthcare, or government, have opted to build their own infrastructures or seek local alternatives to non-European cloud providers. In this context, Bitrise’s offering represents a scalable, secure, and fully managed alternative.
“Bitrise is setting a new standard in European DevOps,” declared Reza Malekzadeh, partner at Partech and board member of Bitrise. “The ability to meet regulatory requirements without compromising speed or innovation is key for companies that want to compete globally from Europe.”
### Commitment to Secure and Agile Mobile Development
The Amsterdam data center will be available for all Bitrise services and products, enabling clients to build, test, and automate their mobile applications—both on iOS and Android—within the European Economic Area. With this strategy, the platform reinforces its commitment to providing a mobile CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery) solution that combines top-tier performance with compliance assurances.
Bitrise’s move not only strengthens its presence on the continent but also sends a clear message to the market: it is possible to innovate in mobile technology while fully respecting the principles of digital sovereignty and data protection that define the European tech agenda.
