Every second, more than 1,000 cyberattacks occur worldwide, many of them massive and automated. The threats are on the rise. In Latin America and the Caribbean alone, there were 200 billion attempted attacks in 2023, a 14.5% increase from 2022.
In response to this scenario, BeDisruptive has launched its first BeSOC in Latin America and the Caribbean in Panama. This Security Operations Center (SOC) will help build a more secure region, led by a group of professionals with proven experience in cybersecurity, a fundamental pillar to ensure the economic and social development of countries. This investment in infrastructure complements the vision of the NUMU-BeDisruptive consortium to support organizations and governments in developing regional strategies and alliances to strengthen the cybersecurity ecosystem, as well as interventions aimed at closing the talent gap and building local capabilities.
BeDisruptive BeSOCs act as a line of defense against cybercrime and provide continuous services for research, detection, and response to cyber threats; offensive security and threat intelligence services; advanced detection analysis, and 24/7 support. From the BeSOCs, organizations are monitored and given a rapid and effective response, providing security for all their assets, whether in IT or OT environments, using cutting-edge technologies that offer added value.
“Not only are large targets in danger. Cybercrime has industrialized, and attacks on small and medium-sized enterprises now surpass those on large organizations and governments; it is known that 60% of attacked SMEs disappear. Only strategies that involve empowering local talent and collaborating with all stakeholders are sustainable and effective. That is what we have been doing in the region for the past two years,” said Javier Marín, a partner at NUMU-BeDisruptive for Latin America and the Caribbean.
The new BeSOC in Panama will stand out in the Latin America and Caribbean region, thanks to the optimization of its resources and the ability to autonomously respond to threats, ensuring a quicker response to cyberattacks. This BeSOC complements the cybersecurity academy that is already fostering the training of new talents and the inclusion of vulnerable communities in the digital economy.
Located in the heights of the BICSA Financial Center on Avenida Balboa, the new BeSOC offers a vast environment of 1200 square meters, meeting high sustainability criteria, low environmental impact, and providing the following services:
– Conduct practical and technical analysis of countries on threats, risks, and opportunities for emerging technology.
– Detect, analyze, and correct cybersecurity incidents using technological solutions to identify malicious activity.
– Offer training for specialized data security personnel, reinforcing the cybersecurity sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, in a clear commitment to talent.
– Promote the integration of at-risk groups in the cybersecurity sector in the region through specific assistance programs.
– Increase awareness in these countries about risks, identify their cybersecurity needs, provide technical solutions, and prepare for necessary infrastructure investments through trust relationships.
Professionals certified by the Regional Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity (CREC) of NUMU-BeDisruptive in Panama are already working at BeSOC Panama, with support, know-how, and cyber threat intelligence from the federated BeSOC network in Rome and Madrid. The opening of two new BeSOCs is also planned in the coming months, one in Milan and one in Washington D.C.
