Atos has announced the successful completion of the latest Technology Trial prior to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which took place from May 13 to 17 at various locations in Paris and other Olympic and Paralympic venues.
Technology Trials are designed to evaluate the ability of computer systems and technological equipment to handle real situations that could affect the competitions. These trials also promote team cohesion and collaboration, giving each member a clear vision of how they can contribute significantly. As a leader in IT integration, Atos coordinated with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee (OCOG) and led the team of experts from all technology partners involved. A total of 83 Technology Trial managers carried out 1,400 scenarios to challenge over 1,000 participants, simulating situations that could occur during the event. The scenarios tested included competition delays due to weather conditions, server disconnections, and staff absences due to illness.
The Technology Trial operations were conducted at 39 locations, including the Technology Operations Center (CTOC) in Barcelona and specific venues for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, such as the Technology Operations Center, the Main Press Center, the Stade de France, and competition venues in Lille, Lyon, Marseille, and Tahiti.
This latest Technology Trial has been a success, as no major technical issues have been detected and some processes have been improved.
Bruno Marie-Rose, Chief Information and Technology Officer, Paris 2024, stated: “During this week of exercises, the key stakeholders in technology have learned and grown as a single team. This week has shown us that we have the solid foundation we need, and with all the gathered learning, I am confident we will deliver an exceptional event this summer.”
Christophe Thivet, Chief Integration Officer Paris 2024, Atos, said: “My gratitude to all my colleagues working on the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games technology team, from all organizations and partners, for their dedication in this final Technology Trial. Less than 2 months away from the opening ceremony, I am confident that this extraordinary team is in the best possible shape to be prepared for any challenge that comes our way.”
For the past four years, Atos has been working alongside the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee to prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games. For the opening ceremony, the Atos team will have conducted 250,000 hours of testing from their Integration Testing Lab in Madrid, led two Technology Trials, and participated in all test sporting events organized by the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee or sports federations.
