Ascenty, the largest data center and connectivity services provider in Latin America, has announced a new partnership with DE-CIX, one of the world’s largest Internet exchange operators. Based in Germany, DE-CIX managed nearly 59 exabytes of traffic in 2023 and operates in over 20 countries. Starting in March 2025, the company will offer its services at Ascenty’s SPO04 data center, located in a complex with three other mega facilities.
Ascenty’s SPO04 center, like all others in the company, is carrier neutral, meaning it is highly interconnected with an extensive network ecosystem. It also has its own fiber optic network spanning over 5,000 kilometers. Thanks to the collaboration with DE-CIX, companies will have access to better connectivity options, reduce latency, and enhance the end-user experience in critical services such as streaming and real-time content access.
João Walter, Director of Edge Products and Strategies at Ascenty, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in offering greater diversity and options to their customers: “We want our customers to have multiple connection options. Ascenty is a passport to access anywhere in the world, and DE-CIX will help us achieve that.”
Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX, stated that this partnership will allow Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and businesses to access new opportunities for local and international interconnection, especially towards the United States and southern Europe. “It is an important step in Brazil’s digital transformation, and we are proud to be part of this evolution alongside Ascenty,” Ivanov affirmed.
Improving connectivity opportunities
This collaboration not only enhances local connectivity but also integrates Brazil into Digital Realty’s ServiceFabric™, a platform that connects applications, artificial intelligence, clouds, and over 500 data centers worldwide. This will enable service providers to easily connect with customers from a single data center, improving efficiency and global reach.
In addition to interconnection, the alliance will also enhance direct connectivity between Ascenty’s colocation services, its telecommunications network, and various environments within the data center. “Ascenty is committed to facilitating access to platforms that complement infrastructure and colocation strategies,” concluded João Walter.
This collaboration promises to boost connectivity in Brazil, allowing companies to fully leverage the global technological opportunities offered by Ascenty and DE-CIX.
