Arm Launches Accuracy Super Resolution to Revolutionize Mobile Gaming Experience

ARM announced at the Game Developer Conference (GDC) 2025 the public availability of its innovative technology, Accuracy Super Resolution (Arm ASR), designed to provide mobile game developers with high-fidelity graphics without sacrificing performance or battery life.

For years, mobile development studios have had to choose between maintaining high levels of graphic detail or prioritizing smoothness and avoiding device overheating. Now, thanks to Arm ASR, that dilemma is gone. This solution allows rendering parts of the game at lower resolutions and then scaling the images using advanced techniques, reducing the load on the GPU and energy consumption.

Enhanced Performance and Battery Life Without Losing Quality

Arm ASR is based on AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR2) technology, adapted and optimized by Arm for mobile devices. It utilizes temporal scaling techniques, combining information from multiple frames to deliver sharper and more realistic images from lower resolution inputs. In tests conducted with devices equipped with the Arm Immortalis-G720 GPU at resolutions of 2,800 x 1,260 pixels, a 53% increase in frame rate has been achieved, enhancing gameplay and extending battery life.

Compatibility with Unreal Engine and Unity

The potential of Arm ASR doesn’t stop there. Arm has developed specific plugins for major game engines. The plugin for Unreal Engine 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5 is already available in the Epic Fab store, while a plugin for Unity is in development and will be released soon.

In the demo “Mori,” developed on Unreal Engine 5, it was demonstrated that enabling Arm ASR can boost performance by up to 30% without visible differences. Integration into projects is straightforward, requiring only to activate the plugin, set up temporal anti-aliasing, and validate through console commands.

Adoption by Notable Studios

Prominent studios such as Enduring Games, Infold Games, and Sumo Digital have already incorporated Arm ASR into their development processes, achieving performance improvements without compromising graphic quality. This adoption highlights the industry’s interest in solutions that can overcome the technical limitations of mobile devices.

Future Plans and Expansion

Arm has indicated that it will continue working to expand Arm ASR compatibility with more platforms and devices. Additionally, further optimizations are planned based on feedback from the developer community and technological advances in the industry.

With Arm ASR, the company is making a strong move towards the future of mobile gaming, offering a free, open-source tool licensed under MIT. This innovation will enable developers to create more immersive games, with advanced graphics and sustained performance, without compromising device battery life or causing overheating.

Arm thus positions itself as a leader in technology for mobile game development, providing solutions that mark a turning point in the gaming experience on smartphones and tablets.
