AMD Unveils New Desktop Processors at CES 2024

Taking advantage of the CES 2024 celebration, AMD has announced their new products designed for desktops. These products are aimed at providing high-quality experiences for both gamers and everyday users. They stand out for their exceptional performance and custom AI processing power. AMD introduced the innovative desktop processors of the AMD Ryzen™ 8000G series, with the Ryzen™ 7 8700G being the highlight, housing the world’s most powerful integrated graphics. Additionally, AMD has incorporated a dedicated AI processing unit (NPU) in desktop PC processors for the first time, under the name Ryzen™ AI, unlocking greater AI potential for consumers.

“AMD continues to lead the AI hardware revolution by offering the broadest portfolio of processors with dedicated AI engines in the x86 market,” said Jack Huynh, senior vice president and general manager, Computing and Graphics Group at AMD.

The processors from the AMD Ryzen™ 8000G Series offer impressive graphics and productivity in a single package, with up to eight cores and 16 threads, ensuring immense power and dominant performance for intensive workloads including gaming and content creation. The processors are optimized to deliver efficiency with low power consumption without sacrificing performance or responsiveness.

The top-of-the-line AMD Ryzen™ 7 8700G features eight cores, 16 threads, 24 MB of cache, and Radeon™ 780M graphics. Meanwhile, the AMD Ryzen™ 5 8600G offers six cores, 12 threads, 22MB of cache, and Radeon 760M graphics. Both models include AMD Ryzen™ AI technology, including the first NPU in a desktop PC processor, uniquely accelerating AI software capabilities to optimize AI workloads, improve AI processing efficiency, and unlock exciting experiences like AI-powered noise cancellation.

All models of the 8000G Series processors offer the fastest integrated graphics in their class, with impressive Radeon 700M power. The CPUs are perfect for those who want a smooth 1080p experience straight away, with the option to upgrade with a discrete graphics card for even greater gaming fidelity.

The processors also feature AMD EXPO™ technology that allows for higher memory frequencies and advanced timings, unlocking smoother frame rates. Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) enables one-touch overclocking, giving users an extra CPU boost with higher power limits.

The AMD Ryzen™ 8000G Series desktop processors are expected to be available for DIY customers and SI partners starting January 31, 2024.

AMD also expanded its Ryzen™ 5000 series processors to provide users with a wider range of options for creating systems geared toward productivity, gaming, or content creation. The AMD Ryzen™ 7 5700X3D, in particular, takes advantage of advanced 3D V-Cache™ technology, providing gamers with a substantial increase in game performance.
