Technology Writing. Amazon announced on Monday the expansion of its artificial intelligence ecosystem with the launch of nova.amazon.com, a platform designed for developers and technical professionals to explore and work directly with its foundational generative AI models, Amazon Nova. Alongside this new offering, the company also introduced Nova Act, a new AI model aimed at performing specific actions within web browsers.
The platform, available starting today for users with accounts in the United States, represents Amazon’s strong commitment to establishing itself in the emerging field of applied generative AI. As the company explained, Nova Act is part of a preliminary version intended for research and experimentation, presented in the form of an SDK (software development kit) accessible to developers from the new website.
Intelligence Applied to Action
Unlike traditional models focused on generating text or visual content, Nova Act allows for the creation of intelligent agents capable of autonomously acting in digital environments, such as a web browser. These agents can conduct searches, fill out forms, select options, or even follow specific instructions, such as ignoring commercial offers during an online purchase.
“We are taking a step further towards reliable agents that can execute complex workflows by breaking them down into simple actions,” Amazon representatives explained. The tool is presented as an advancement in the vision of agents that assist users with both digital and physical tasks, equipped with learning, analysis, and action capabilities.
A New Generation of Models
Amazon Nova was originally introduced at the re:Invent 2024 event. This family of models includes the variants Nova Micro, Lite, and Pro, focused on text generation, and is complemented by Nova Canvas for images and Nova Reel for video. All models are available on the Amazon Bedrock platform, the company’s service for deploying generative AI solutions in the cloud.
The nova.amazon.com platform allows users to directly test these models, start interactive sessions, generate visual content, and even download tools like the Nova Act SDK. Additionally, Amazon has incorporated AI training options through more than 135 AWS courses aimed at users of all levels.
Inspiring the Creator Community
Rohit Prasad, senior vice president of Amazon Artificial General Intelligence, emphasized that this initiative aims to bring the most advanced AI tools closer to those with ideas who wish to put them into practice. “We want to inspire developers so they can experiment quickly and then scale their projects on Bedrock,” he stated.
In an increasingly competitive environment where companies like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic set the pace for development in artificial intelligence, Amazon reinforces its position by betting on a practical, inclusive, and user-centered approach.
With this new phase, Amazon not only expands its catalog of AI solutions but also positions itself as a key player in driving technologies capable of interacting, generating content, and executing actions in real-time. Nova and Nova Act could signal the start of a new generation of intelligent applications serving digital productivity.
