Synology has officially launched the PAS7700, its most powerful storage system to date, designed for organizations that require maximum availability, high performance, and scalability in critical enterprise environments.
The new solution combines an active-active dual controller architecture with all-NVMe technology to meet the demands of the most challenging SAN and NAS workloads. The system is aimed at companies relying on local primary storage infrastructure that need to ensure continuous, uninterrupted operations.
“The PAS Series reflects Synology’s expertise in storage and its close collaboration with our customers. After nine months of enterprise validation in real-world environments, the PAS7700 has proven to deliver high reliability and performance in the field, helping clients reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO),” stated Marcos de Santiago.
The PAS7700 incorporates multi-layer redundancy mechanisms through triple-parity RAID (RAID-TP), synchronized write protection in memory via a high-speed non-transparent bridge (NTB), and IP and protocol failover systems, enabling continued activity even in unforeseen incidents.
Additionally, the system runs on the new DSM Enterprise operating system and the Continuous Availability Manager, technologies that allow software, firmware, and application updates without service interruption.
In terms of security and data protection, Synology has integrated features such as Self-Encrypting Drives (SEDs), full volume encryption, WORM technology, immutable snapshots, Snapshot Replication, and Hyper Backup. It also offers out-of-band management via a dedicated 1GbE port per controller to facilitate remote maintenance.
The company also highlights the system’s efficiency in cost and capacity. Thanks to advanced inline and post-process deduplication features based on the Btrfs file system, the PAS7700 can achieve data reduction ratios of up to 5:1, effectively providing approximately 8.25 PB of usable capacity.
Furthermore, Synology has announced that the system will soon support Synology Tiering, a feature enabling automatic movement of less-used data to lower-cost storage according to configurable policies, reserving high-performance storage for active workloads.
The PAS7700 is now available worldwide through Synology’s network of distributors and partners.
