Palo Alto Networks, a global leader in cybersecurity, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Chronosphere, a strategic move aimed at addressing one of the major challenges of the artificial intelligence era: the lack of visibility and control over the massive volumes of data that underpin companies’ digital operations.
In a context where organizations are increasingly reliant on AI to drive growth, protect assets, and operate in more complex environments, access to reliable, high-quality, real-time data has become a critical factor. Through this integration, Palo Alto Networks aims to redefine how companies manage security and operations at the speed demanded by AI.
Chronosphere, recognized as a Leader in the Gartner 2025 Magic Quadrant for Observability Platforms, was specifically designed for cloud-native environments, where traditional tools fall short. Its technology enables deep visibility into applications, infrastructure, and digital systems at scale, providing organizations with greater control over both performance and data costs.
The acquisition will integrate Chronosphere’s native cloud observability platform with Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex AgentiX™. This combination will enable the deployment of AI agents capable of automatically detecting and resolving security and IT incidents before they impact the business. Additionally, the acquisition brings the necessary context around models, prompts, users, and performance, allowing a transition from manual processes to autonomous, data-driven remediation.
“The market demands fewer providers and more comprehensive, reliable platforms for critical security and operational needs,” said Nikesh Arora, Chairman and CEO of Palo Alto Networks. “Chronosphere accelerates our vision of becoming the essential platform for protecting and operating the cloud and AI. Effective security begins with deep visibility into data, and that’s exactly what this technology provides for our customers.”
Meanwhile, Martin Mao, co-founder and CEO of Chronosphere, who joins Palo Alto Networks as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Observability, emphasized that the union will enable scaled deployment of AI-driven observability. “Together, we are creating a new standard where observability, security, and artificial intelligence converge to give organizations control over their most valuable asset: data,” he stated.
Following the acquisition, Chronosphere Telemetry Pipeline will continue to offer its capabilities as a standalone solution. This technology acts as an intelligent control layer that reduces low-value data noise, allowing data volumes to be decreased by up to 30% and requiring significantly less infrastructure than traditional alternatives. This approach will be a key part of Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex XSIAM® strategy, enabling companies to scale their security without increasing costs as they move toward autonomous AI-powered operations.
With this move, Palo Alto Networks solidifies its position as a key player at the intersection of cybersecurity, observability, and artificial intelligence, marking a new step in the evolution of digital platforms of the future.
