Object First, recognized for delivering the best storage solution for Veeam® users, introduces Ootbi Mini, a compact and immutable device designed for remote offices and branch locations, edge deployments, and small businesses. Its goal: to protect Veeam’s local backups from ransomware in a desktop tower format that requires no data center infrastructure. It will be available in 8, 16, and 24 TB options, maintaining the brand’s focus on security, simplicity, and enterprise-level performance.
Built on Zero Trust principles, Ootbi (Out-of-the-Box Immutability) Mini offers absolute immutability: not even an administrator can modify the firmware, operating system, storage layer, or the backup data itself. The device retains the same ransomware protection, an intuitive interface, and direct integration with Veeam from the Ootbi family, without requiring advanced cybersecurity knowledge.
Ootbi Mini is available in both capital expenditure (CapEx) and consumption-based subscription models. It can be ordered now, with initial deliveries scheduled for January 2026.
Object First also announced:
- Honeypot: For early detection of cyber threats targeting Veeam Backup and Replication (VBR), Object First introduced Ootbi Honeypot in version 1.7. With just two clicks, Honeypot deploys a VBR decoy environment within a securely segmented part of Ootbi, serving as a trap space. If any suspicious activity is detected, Honeypot immediately sends alerts via the customer’s preferred channel. Honeypot is available free of charge to current Ootbi users running version 1.7.
- Beta Program for Fleet Manager: Object First announced a beta program for Ootbi Fleet Manager, a cloud-based application that allows customers to monitor all their Ootbi products from a single dashboard. Fleet Manager offers customized clustering organization, detailed monitoring, and reporting for Ootbi devices. Users can view a comprehensive breakdown of their footprint, including hardware status and utilization. Current customers interested in participating can sign up here.
“Organizations using Veeam can benefit from storage solutions that combine immutability, simplicity, and resilience,” said Phil Goodwin, IDC Research Vice President. “With Ootbi Mini, Honeypot, and Fleet Manager, Object First expands its lineup of ransomware-proof products to meet these needs across organizations of all sizes.”
“Our mission is to make ransomware-proof backups simple, powerful, and accessible for all Veeam users,” stated David Bennett, CEO of Object First. “With the launch of Ootbi Mini, any organization, regardless of location, can enjoy enterprise-level immutability in a compact form factor. Our new Honeypot feature enhances cyberresilience by providing early alerts for cyber threats, while Fleet Manager simplifies how customers monitor and manage their Ootbi deployments. Together, these innovations reinforce our commitment to delivering a secure, straightforward, and resilient backup solution for Veeam clients.”
