Orange will power the Madrid Community Security Operations Center with Microsoft’s artificial intelligence

The company will manage the largest lot of the contract awarded by Madrid Digital, valued at 13.8 million euros, to enhance the region’s cybersecurity with a generative AI-based approach.

The Community of Madrid is moving towards a new digital security paradigm with the launch of its next-generation Security Operations Center (SOC), a project led by Orange, a brand of MasOrange Group, after securing the most significant portion of the Madrid Digital contract worth 13.8 million euros.

Orange’s proposal entails a comprehensive transformation of the regional cybersecurity model by shifting from traditional architecture to a highly automated, generative AI-powered approach, with tools like Microsoft Copilot for Security at its core.

Intelligent and automated cybersecurity to protect Madrid

The new SOC for the Community of Madrid will incorporate advanced capabilities for threat detection, response, and recovery, thanks to a combination of market-leading solutions certified by organizations such as CNN-CERT.

The proposal includes a strategic partnership ecosystem with Microsoft, MyCloudDoor, Extrahop, and Rapid7, enabling the integration of:

  • Generative AI to accelerate threat detection and analysis

  • Advanced network threat detection (Extrahop)

  • Automated vulnerability management and digital monitoring (Rapid7)

Additionally, 24/7 support will be provided by an exclusive and highly qualified team, offering continuous assistance for all managed security systems.

“Securing this important contract makes us the main operator for the Community of Madrid, strengthening our leadership as a strategic partner in connectivity and advanced services, especially cybersecurity,” said Joaquín Colino, B2B General Director at MasOrange.

Beyond technology: training and regulatory compliance

The new SOC will not only incorporate cutting-edge technology but will also include a robust ongoing training plan and alignment with current regulations, ensuring that human teams and systems are prepared to act swiftly and coordinated in the face of any threat or security incident.

“As a critical infrastructure company, we are aware of the need to have the right technology, processes, and people. We provide the Madrid government with our full knowledge and experience to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data,” added Íñigo Polo, Director of Public Administrations and Digital Services at MasOrange.

A key pillar in digitalizing public services

This project complements other initiatives managed by Orange in the region, such as:

  • The 112 emergency service, crucial for coordination in risk situations.

  • Advanced voice solutions for more than 60,000 institutional users.

  • The Connected Schools program, providing broadband connectivity to over 1,200 educational centers in the Community of Madrid.

With this new award, Orange reinforces its role as a key technological partner for Madrid’s administration, contributing to the development of a more modern, secure, and connected region in a global context of increasing cyber threats.
