Appgate Launches Its New Application Discovery Service to Accelerate Zero Trust Adoption

Appgate, the secure access company, has announced the launch of its Application Discovery Service, a cloud-based solution designed to automate the discovery of application access and optimize permissions. This new service enables organizations to implement Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) principles more agilely, offering advanced visibility into user access patterns and automated recommendations for applying least privilege controls.

The shift to a Zero Trust model often faces a recurring problem: the lack of detailed visibility into which applications each user actually uses. Many companies replicate structures from traditional VPNs, leading to excessive access assignments and unnecessary security risks. Traditional audit methods—such as manual log review—are slow, error-prone, and hinder progress toward a true Zero Trust environment.

“Achieving an effective Zero Trust model requires a thorough understanding of user access patterns, but many organizations lack that visibility,” explains Michael Levy, senior vice president of product management at Appgate. “With Application Discovery Service, we remove these barriers through AI-driven automated analysis, allowing security teams to efficiently and accurately apply the principle of least privilege.”

Highlighted features of the service include:

  • Faster Zero Trust Implementation: Automates permission optimization and shortens setup time.
  • Enhanced Security: Prevents lateral movement and unauthorized access with application-specific controls.
  • Operational Efficiency: Replaces manual discovery processes, freeing IT teams for strategic tasks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Strengthens granular access policies to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Smooth User Experience: Authorized access remains uninterrupted while permissions are adjusted in the background.

Industry experts have shared positive feedback:

“Appgate’s new service has been a force multiplier in our Zero Trust strategy. It enables us to identify real-time access patterns and fine-tune permissions with surgical precision—all without disrupting the user experience or slowing down the business,” states Sean Calista, Chief Information Security Officer at CloudZero.

“Controlling application access is a critical pillar of Zero Trust. Appgate’s Application Discovery Service provides unprecedented visibility and makes the implementation of least privilege policies both efficient and accurate,” adds Sean Glansbeek, CEO of Private Protocol.

Availability:

The new Application Discovery Service is now available for clients using Appgate ZTNA version 6.5 or higher.
