The operation reinforces Arista’s strategy to provide seamless client-to-cloud connectivity, focusing on distributed environments, Wi-Fi 7, and Zero Trust security.
Arista Networks (NYSE: ANET) has announced the acquisition of VeloCloud’s SD-WAN portfolio, previously owned by Broadcom, as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its capabilities in cognitive branch networking and distributed enterprise campuses. This acquisition is accompanied by the launch of a new generation of AI-based products, including compact switches with PoE, next-generation Wi-Fi 7 access points, and advanced security solutions for distributed networks.
The deal positions Arista as one of the most innovative players in the enterprise networking space, offering a unified architecture from client to cloud, with centralized management, proactive monitoring, and automated incident resolution.
Intelligent End-to-End Connectivity
The incorporation of VeloCloud allows Arista to expand its portfolio with cloud-based SD-WAN solutions, equipped with integrated security capabilities, 5G connectivity, and Wi-Fi options. These platforms are designed to deliver optimal performance in distributed environments, enabling secure interconnections between data centers, headquarters, and remote branches. The integration is complemented by CloudEOS, Arista’s routing stack, and the 7000 series WAN routers.
“VeloCloud’s edge strengthens and scales our enterprise WAN,” stated Alan Davidson, CIO of Broadcom Inc., highlighting the strategic value of the combination.
In addition, Arista has launched the AWE-7220R router for regional connectivity, which joins the AWE-7230R and AWE-7250R models, allowing hub-spine and micro-edge network architectures for branches.
New Solutions for Campus and Retail
In the campus and remote office space, Arista introduced a new compact 12-port PoE switch with up to 60 W (710XP series), fanless and designed for quiet deployments. In wireless connectivity, the new Wi-Fi 7 access points are highlighted:
- O-435: a ruggedized model for outdoor and industrial use, with tri-band 2×2 radio and a dedicated fourth multifunction radio.
- C-400: an indoor access point, economical and designed for high-volume environments managed by service providers (MSPs), ideal for SMEs, remote offices, and multi-tenant buildings.
These innovations are already being adopted by companies in the retail sector. “The integration of Arista’s access points with our electronic shelf labels (ESL) allows us to update prices dynamically, reduce labor costs, and ensure accuracy in-store,” explained Dean Penebacker, IT Director at Pan Pacific Retail Management (Hawaii).
Zero Trust Security for Distributed Networks
Arista has also enhanced its cybersecurity approach with the deployment of CloudVision AGNI in a fully on-premise version. This solution provides AI-driven network access control, meeting strict regulatory and data protection requirements, from large campuses to distributed offices.
Additionally, the new virtual platforms Arista MSS ZTX extend identity-based micro-segmentation to small branches, ensuring granular traffic control in distributed networks.
“With AGNI, we’ve managed to protect all our devices and users, both on school and personal equipment, without complicating management or increasing costs,” said Najeeb Qasimi, IT Director of the Oak Grove School District.
Availability of New Products
- O-435 and C-400: available in Q2 2025.
- 710XP Switch: available early in Q3.
- AWE-7220R Router: currently in distribution.
- CloudVision AGNI on-premise and virtual ZTX: available immediately.
Recognition in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant
Arista has also been recognized as a Visionary with the highest execution capability in Gartner’s 2025 “Enterprise Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure” quadrant, supporting its strategy focused on simplifying operations through automation, integrated security, and guaranteed performance in complex environments.
An AI and Cloud-Centric Approach
According to Arista CEO Jayshree Ullal, the company continues to invest in intelligent network infrastructure capable of adapting to the new business reality: “Organizations need always-on, secure, and easy-to-operate networks, especially now that AI and edge computing are redefining technology architecture.”
The combination of the CloudVision stack, VeloCloud’s SD-WAN capabilities, and the new products for campuses and branches solidifies Arista’s proposition as a leader in network solutions for hybrid, distributed, and operationally demanding environments.
