Rackspace and Sema4.ai: Strategic Partnership to Bring Laboratory AI Agents to the Enterprise

A new joint solution tackles a major challenge for businesses: turning AI experimentation into real and measurable value, without sacrificing security or governance.

Artificial intelligence is on everyone’s lips, but very few organizations have managed to turn their proofs of concept into large-scale real-world deployments. Aware of this challenge, Rackspace Technology has teamed up with Sema4.ai to offer a platform that facilitates the secure, governed, and scalable deployment of AI agents in corporate environments.

The announcement is part of FAIR™ (Foundry for AI by Rackspace), Rackspace’s division specialized in applied AI. The new solution combines FAIR services and system integration expertise with Sema4.ai’s SAFE platform, designed specifically for intelligent agents to act as “autonomous digital coworkers.”

“In production, AI cannot be a black box. It needs controls, traceability, and operational resilience. That is the difference between a digital assistant and a business agent,” stated Srini Koushik, president of AI at Rackspace.

From Proof of Concept to Global Deployment

A recent study by Rackspace reveals that while more than 90% of companies want to incorporate AI agents, only 24% have achieved this successfully. The main obstacle is not technical, but operational: how to integrate these systems into real processes, with the same standards as any critical business system.

The SAFE platform addresses this need with a modular and federated architecture that allows:

  • To automate complex tasks without the need for prompt engineering.
  • To execute business processes based on existing SOPs and documentation.
  • To operate in hybrid and multicloud environments while adhering to corporate security controls.

All of this is designed with a low-code approach so that business teams can also participate in the creation of agents.

Use Cases and Shared Vision

The solution is intended to accelerate the adoption of AI in areas such as customer service, operations, finance, and human resources. Among its features is the ability to interpret documents, make autonomous decisions, and collaborate with other systems, all with complete traceability.

Rob Bearden, CEO of Sema4.ai, sums it up as follows:

“Business agents will be the ‘killer app’ of this era. They not only help make decisions but execute them as well. We are building the infrastructure to make this possible without risks.”

Governed and Scalable AI: The New Frontier

Unlike other approaches that focus on point tools or chatbots, Rackspace and Sema4.ai advocate for an operational AI model, where agents are integrated as a cross-cutting layer in the organization’s digital ecosystem.

FAIR is already working on over 500 use cases with clients from various sectors. This new joint offering represents a solid step toward the industrialization of enterprise AI, reducing “time to value” and enabling autonomous processes with total control.
