The Port of Imbituba, one of the main logistical assets in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, is undergoing an unprecedented transformation thanks to an investment of over 28 million reais aimed at modernizing its infrastructure and services. The announcement, made by Governor Jorginho Mello, marks the beginning of a new era for the port’s competitiveness and its integration into the digital economy.
A state-of-the-art data center serving the port ecosystem
The main milestone of this new phase is the inauguration of the new SCPAR Porto de Imbituba data center, considered one of the most advanced in the Brazilian market. This technological facility is designed to process and store all the information generated in the port ecosystem, which will streamline operations, enhance security, and improve control over all logistical processes.
According to the port administration, the data center represents a key advancement in the port’s digitalization and its adaptation to the demands of the global economy. The center will facilitate everything from real-time cargo tracking to integration with customs systems and services for clients and logistics operators.
Infrastructure expansion and improvements
Alongside the technological investment, the Port of Imbituba is progressing with significant infrastructure works. Demolition work is being carried out at Berço 1 and the expansion of Berços 2 and 3, which are essential for increasing operational capacity and accommodating larger vessels. These interventions, involving an investment of 14 million reais, also include improvements in road access, such as the installation of speed bumps, the concrete paving of Avenida Manoel Florentino Machado, and the implementation of a drainage system around Rua Duque de Caxias.
Enhancing talent and social commitment
During the institutional visit, the regulations for the Participation in Results Program (PPR) for port workers were also signed, an initiative aimed at aligning the team’s objectives with the results of the public company and boosting productivity. This focus on valuing human capital is seen as a pillar for efficiency and sustainable growth.
At the community level, the state government and port administration have allocated resources to promote cultural, sports, and economic events that will foster integration and local development. Among the highlighted projects are the Imbituba Surf Circuit, the Imbituba Award campaign, and the Imbcomex foreign trade event, aimed at the export sector in southern Santa Catarina.
A strategic step towards modernization and regional development
For the Secretary of State for Ports, Airports, and Railroads, Beto Martins, the new projects represent a structural commitment that modernizes logistics, increases operational capacity, and strengthens the position of the Port of Imbituba as a driver of regional development. “We are talking about investments that not only update infrastructure but also connect the port to the economic dynamism of Santa Catarina and Brazil,” emphasized the official.
With the launch of the data center and ongoing construction, the Port of Imbituba solidifies its transition towards a more efficient, secure logistics model aligned with the challenges of global digital transformation, positioning itself as a leader in the South Atlantic’s port landscape.
