Global Switch Opens Europe’s First Liquid Cooling Demonstration Room for Data Centers in London

The Global Switch company, one of the historic data center operators in the British capital, has taken a significant step forward in technological innovation by opening the first demonstration room dedicated to advanced liquid cooling solutions in Europe. The new space, located in London’s iconic Docklands, showcases four cutting-edge technologies developed in collaboration with six global leaders in digital infrastructure, including Liquidstack and SuperMicro.

This initiative positions Global Switch as a pioneer in the integration of liquid cooling for high-computational environments, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC), sectors where energy efficiency and power density are becoming increasingly critical requirements. The room, unique on the continent, allows clients and companies to explore first-hand options like direct chip cooling and immersion technologies, which are already available in the company’s data centers in Hong Kong and now deployed internationally.

Response to AI and Sustainability Demand

The rise of AI startups in London has driven a record demand for digital resources. According to data from Dealroom and London & Partners, in 2024 alone, startups in the sector attracted £2.9 billion in investments, with an additional £770 million in the first quarter of 2025. This accelerated growth has made London the largest data center market in Europe, with plans to double its capacity in 2025 and 2026.

However, the lack of space and energy constraints pose challenges for many operators, a situation that Global Switch aims to address with flexible infrastructures and a strong focus on efficiency. The use of liquid cooling not only allows for operating high-power chips at greater performance and density but also significantly reduces energy consumption and environmental impact, aligning with the sustainability standards required at the European level.

Last month, all Global Switch data centers in Europe received approval to participate in the “European Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres,” a voluntary initiative by the European Commission to improve energy efficiency and minimize the environmental impact of the sector.

An Expanding Campus Ready for the Next Generation

The Global Switch campus in London, which includes the former printing headquarters of the Financial Times, is strategically located to offer low latency and direct connectivity to the city’s major business hubs. Access to 224 MVA of secured electrical power enables the company to execute its densification plans and respond to the growing demand for AI and advanced computing services, even amidst constraints in London’s electrical grid.

Last year, CoreWeave chose Global Switch to host the largest deployment of NVIDIA H100 and H200 GPUs in Europe, solidifying the company’s reputation as a strategic partner for large-scale AI projects and supporting the UK Government’s “AI Opportunities Action Plan.”

Ashley Muldoon, CEO of Global Switch, emphasized that “densification is key to unlocking the potential of the most advanced AI and HPC workloads, and will remain the focal point of our investment strategy.” Meanwhile, Adam Eaton, Executive Director for Europe, highlighted that “technological innovation on our London campus will allow us to capture the anticipated growth in this market and meet the digital needs of the most innovative businesses.”

A Reference in the International Development of Data Centers

Since 1998, Global Switch has established itself as one of the leading providers of mission-critical solutions in strategic locations across Europe and Asia-Pacific. Its carrier-neutral and cloud-neutral data centers, located in the heart of major cities, ensure the scale, power, and connectivity needed to drive client growth, particularly in scenarios where artificial intelligence and high-performance computing demand cutting-edge infrastructures.

With the opening of this demonstration room, Global Switch reinforces its commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and innovation, anticipating the trends that will define the future of data centers in Europe and globally.
