Genetec Adds New Capabilities to Security Center SaaS

Genetec has announced new updates for Security Center SaaS. Since its launch, it has been adding new functionalities to the platform every 12 days, thus providing a flexible, open, and constantly evolving SaaS solution to meet user needs.

Security Center SaaS unifies video surveillance, access control, forensic search, intrusion detection, automation, and other advanced features into a comprehensive solution. Designed to operate fully in the cloud or in hybrid environments that integrate on-premises systems, the platform offers organizations total flexibility to manage and scale their security infrastructure according to their needs.

The latest updates further enhance this versatility, expanding compatibility with cameras directly connected to the cloud, optimizing edge recording, and incorporating new integrations with third-party analytics systems. These developments strengthen the platform’s innovative approach and its commitment to providing customers with freedom of choice.

Unlike proprietary SaaS solutions, Security Center SaaS allows security professionals and channel partners to select the hardware that best fits their needs, without being tied to a single vendor. Its open architecture is compatible with a wide range of devices from manufacturers like Axis, Bosch, and i-PRO, including cloud-direct cameras, PTZ, and fisheye cameras (now with automatic distortion correction). Organizations can connect their existing access control devices, cameras, and intrusion panels, even if they are not cloud-ready, using Genetec devices, which avoids hardware replacement costs.

This flexibility also extends to deployment models. Security Center SaaS gives organizations complete control over their migration to the cloud, with support for cloud-native, on-premises, or hybrid infrastructures. Video can be stored at the edge or in the cloud, depending on bandwidth, policy, or operational needs, with centralized management via web and mobile applications. The new edge recording capabilities using SD cards allow for local storage on the camera, while recording profiles simplify defining how and where video is captured across multiple devices.

With built-in support for WebRTC, the platform also enables peer-to-peer video streaming directly from cameras to a web interface. This reduces video access time and bandwidth usage, making it ideal for live monitoring, quick reviews, and large-scale deployments without the need for additional configurations.

Security Center SaaS simplifies managing multi-site environments in sectors such as retail, education, corporate campuses, banking, healthcare, or urban infrastructure. Operators can manage systems from a centralized Security Operations Center (SOC) or remotely via web and mobile applications. Real-time alerts enable rapid and consistent responses, while its open architecture facilitates the integration of partner technologies that further enrich its capabilities. For example, Bosch’s new analytics features for detecting individuals with firearms can generate immediate alerts and trigger automated workflows from the moment a weapon is identified, helping security teams act quickly when needed most.

“Genetec is redefining what SaaS means for physical security. It’s not just about moving to the cloud; it’s about giving customers and integrators the flexibility to build, scale, and evolve their systems,” said Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering at Genetec Inc. “Security Center SaaS stands out by unifying physical security functions in a single platform, continuously incorporating new cloud-native capabilities while also supporting the hardware and deployment models that organizations already use.”
