The company launches FortiMail Workspace Security and enhances FortiDLP to shield email, browsing, and collaboration platforms against the rise of automated cybercrime.
Fortinet, a global leader in cybersecurity and network-security convergence, has announced the launch of the FortiMail Workspace Security suite, an advanced solution that extends protection beyond email by incorporating security capabilities into browsers and enterprise collaboration tools. These enhancements are complemented by new features in FortiDLP, the next-generation data loss prevention platform, creating a comprehensive defense backed by artificial intelligence (AI) against the evolving threat landscape.
AI at the service of digital environment protection
The rise of hybrid work and reliance on SaaS platforms like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or Slack have expanded organizations’ attack surfaces. According to the Fortinet Global Threat Landscape Report 2025, cybercriminals are exploiting AI to launch more sophisticated campaigns of impersonation, phishing, and credential theft.
In this scenario, Fortinet is pursuing a coordinated and proactive defense that combines detection, response, and real-time control. Its new suite addresses both external threats and internal risks, protecting user interactions with sensitive data across all collaboration environments.
FortiMail: beyond email
Thanks to the recent acquisition of Perception Point, Fortinet has transformed FortiMail into one of the most comprehensive and customizable platforms in the industry. The solution offers protection for incoming, outgoing, and internal emails and is compatible with multiple operational modes (gateway, server, ICES, and hybrid), in addition to offering deployment options such as appliance, virtual machine, SaaS, or hosted service.
The new FortiMail Workspace Security extends coverage to collaboration tools, allowing for the detection and blocking of malware in shared files, malicious links in chats, and hidden web-based attacks. All of this is supported 24/7 by Fortinet’s managed response center.
FortiDLP: contextual data protection
Meanwhile, FortiDLP introduces advanced data lineage tracing, sequence detection, and automated correlation of user activity. This enables security teams to detect risky behaviors, prevent exposure of intellectual property, and control information flow to unauthorized platforms or generative AI systems.
FortiDLP’s capabilities encompass both monitoring for misuse and regulatory compliance, offering support to prevent leaks of sensitive data, from financial information to personal or health data.
Unified security for hybrid environments
Fortinet’s vision goes beyond individual products. Its proposal is an integrated architecture where email, collaboration, browsing, and sensitive data management form part of a unified, automated, and AI-driven strategy. This way, organizations can:
- Proactively detect and stop attacks.
- Manage security centrally.
- Simplify protection of the hybrid work environment.
- Reduce operational burden on cybersecurity teams.
“At a time when work happens anywhere and data flows across multiple platforms, providing consistent and automated defense is essential. Fortinet delivers the clarity and responsiveness that teams need to stay ahead of threats,” the company stated in the announcement.
