The new platforms double memory, increase performance, and enhance connectivity to accelerate financial, industrial, and transportation operations without interruptions.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced the launch of two new platforms within its fault-tolerant computing solutions line: HPE NonStop Compute NS5 X5 and HPE NonStop Compute NS9 X5. These additions, now available on the market, are designed to provide maximum availability, scalability, and performance for critical business operations, such as payment processing, fraud detection, and smart industrial plant management.
With these new solutions, HPE reinforces its commitment to operational continuity, ensuring uptime levels of 99.999% and even 99.9999% (AL4 classification, according to IDC), which is essential for sectors that cannot afford interruptions.
More Power, Memory, and Bandwidth
Both models feature latest-generation Intel Xeon processors, offering up to 15% more processing capacity:
- NS5 X5: geared toward mid-range workloads, using Intel Xeon Bronze 3400 processors.
- NS9 X5: a high-end solution equipped with Xeon Gold 6400, ideal for mission-critical environments with high transactional volume.
HPE has doubled memory capacity in both platforms, reaching up to 8 TB, and has increased the network bandwidth of the NS9 X5 model by 2.5 times, enabling, for example, the processing of more banking transactions per second or streamlining the integration of multiple plants in advanced manufacturing environments (smart MES).
Connectivity has also been improved with faster fiber channels, and the platforms can integrate with previous generations of NonStop, allowing companies to scale or migrate seamlessly.
Security and Regulatory Compliance
In addition to the new hardware, HPE has updated the operating system that accompanies these platforms, incorporating multi-factor authentication (MFA) and improving compliance with regulations such as GDPR, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and SOC 2. These capabilities strengthen security in environments where confidential data is handled, such as banking, healthcare, and retail.
Use Cases in Critical Sectors
HPE NonStop solutions are widely used in sectors that require total availability. Notable examples include an automotive company that has been using these systems for over 35 years without a single unplanned outage. Additionally, 6 of the top 10 retail banks worldwide rely on HPE NonStop to manage payments, cards, ATMs, and key banking functions.
There was also the case of a car rental company that processes 80,000 bookings daily with this platform.
Availability and Flexible Model
The new platforms have been available since June 2, both in standalone format and through the HPE GreenLake as-a-service model, allowing companies to adopt a more flexible and scalable approach based on their consumption needs.
The new NonStop servers will be on display during the HPE Discover Las Vegas 2025 event, set to take place from June 23 to June 26, where HPE will showcase its latest innovations in computing and automation for hybrid and critical environments.
