KIOXIA’s NVMe SSDs drive Wasabi’s cloud storage infrastructure, optimizing speed, reliability, and efficiency for demanding environments.
The Japanese company KIOXIA and the American tech firm Wasabi Technologies have announced a new milestone in their strategic collaboration aimed at providing faster, smarter, and more cost-effective cloud storage solutions. The Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage solution already utilizes KIOXIA’s enterprise and data center SSDs, including the CM7 and CD8 series, known for their high performance and low latency.
Since the partnership began in 2022, it has strengthened with the integration of PCIe® 5.0 and 4.0 NVMe™ SSDs, raising the standards for speed and efficiency in data access.
Cloud infrastructure ready for the next generation of workloads
Wasabi’s Hot Cloud Storage solution is designed to meet object storage needs with high performance and predictable costs, without egress fees or vendor lock-in. Clients in sectors like education, government, and mid-sized businesses already rely on this infrastructure, which enables quick data storage and retrieval, even in artificial intelligence or big data analytics environments.
“Performance and reliability are fundamental in our cloud infrastructure, and KIOXIA’s SSDs allow us to consistently meet those demands,” said Pramod Kalyanasundaram, Executive Vice President of Engineering and Operations at Wasabi Technologies.
Cutting-edge SSD technology: CM7 and CD8 Series
KIOXIA brings two of its most advanced NVMe SSD lines:
- CM7 Series: enterprise SSDs compatible with PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0, in U.2 and E3.S formats, with capacities of up to 30.72 TB and single or dual port options. They are ideal for intensive read/write workloads, such as OLTP databases, artificial intelligence, or data warehouses.
- CD8 Series: designed for large-scale data centers, complying with NVMe 1.4 specification and the Open Compute Project (OCP) standard. These units, featuring PCIe 4.0, offer up to 15.36 TB in a 2.5-inch format and various security options, such as self-encrypting drives (SED) and secure instant erase (SIE).
Both series stand out for their sustained performance and energy efficiency, which are crucial in modern, sustainable cloud environments.

Accessible, agile cloud storage with no surprises
Wasabi’s value proposition focuses on providing storage at a fixed price, with no hidden fees or unpredictable costs. Coupled with the use of high-performance flash technology, this ensures ultra-fast data access, essential for real-time applications, artificial intelligence, and disaster recovery.
“KIOXIA and Wasabi share the same vision: to drive innovation and take cloud storage to the next level. Our SSDs enable Wasabi to offer a fast, reliable, and scalable solution,” noted Neville Ichhaporia, Senior Vice President of KIOXIA America’s SSD business unit.
A shared vision for a faster data future
The collaboration between KIOXIA and Wasabi takes place in a context where exponential data growth demands infrastructures that can scale efficiently and sustainably. The focus on technologies like PCIe 5.0, compatibility with open standards, and optimized product design positions both companies as key players in the next generation of cloud storage.
