The operation includes all shares of Telefónica del Perú and financial credits totaling more than 1.549 billion soles
Telefónica Hispanoamérica has finalized the sale of 100% of its equity stake in Telefónica del Perú (TdP) to the company Integra Tec International Inc, in a deal that marks a new direction for one of the major telecommunications companies in the country. With over 13 million users in urban and rural areas, service continuity is ensured under the new management.
The transaction, which also involves the assignment of financial credits stemming from the commercial credit contract signed on February 14 with a total available amount of 1.549 billion soles, aims to guarantee the operational sustainability of the company. The total value of the operation amounts to approximately 3.7 million soles, a figure that reflects the current financial situation of the company and the special context of the agreement.
A new leadership for a new phase
As part of this process, Integra Tec has appointed executive Germán Ranftl as the new chairman of the board of Telefónica del Perú, who will lead the restructuring of the company. The current management team, led by Elena Maestre, will remain in place to ensure operational stability during the transition.
Integra Tec, with extensive experience in managing companies in complex financial situations and with a presence in sectors such as telecommunications, energy, and natural resources in Latin America, has expressed its commitment to work with all stakeholders involved: creditors, suppliers, employees, and authorities of the Peruvian government.
Rescue under the bankruptcy framework
The sale process does not alter the course of the Ordinary Restructuring Bankruptcy Process (PCO-R) that Telefónica del Perú is currently undergoing before Indecopi, which will continue in accordance with current regulations. The new shareholder will seek to advance the restructuring of the debt under this legal framework and define a sustainable business plan.
Impact on Internet for All
The operation also involves the indirect transfer of control of the shares that TdP holds in the rural operator Internet para Todos (IpT), a key initiative for closing the digital divide in the country, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
A legacy of connectivity
Since its arrival in Peru in 1994, Telefónica has been a crucial player in the development of telecommunications in the country. With investments in infrastructure, digital education, and rural coverage, its subsidiary has contributed to reducing technological gaps and connecting millions of citizens. Through emblematic programs and strategic partnerships, it has driven digitalization in key sectors such as education, health, and public services.
With this change in ownership, Telefónica takes another step in its reorganization process in Latin America, while Integra Tec takes on the challenge of leading a new phase for connectivity in Peru.
