The former executive from BT and Airtel will strengthen Equinix’s innovation strategy to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency across its digital ecosystem.
Equinix, the global leader in digital infrastructure, has announced the appointment of Harmeen Mehta as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Innovation Officer (CDIO), a role she will officially assume on April 4th. With over 28 years of experience leading digital transformations in the technology and telecommunications sectors, Mehta will bring critical strategic vision at a crucial time for the evolution of digital services on a global scale.
In her new position, Mehta will report directly to Equinix President and CEO Adaire Fox-Martin, and will be responsible for aligning technological capabilities with business objectives to accelerate innovation, optimize internal processes, and enhance customer experiences worldwide. Her arrival reinforces Equinix’s commitment to integrating emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and automation, into its digital infrastructure solutions.

Before joining Equinix, Mehta served as Director of Digital and Innovation at BT Group, where she drove an ambitious AI-based transformation that significantly improved both operational efficiency and customer experience. Previously, she held the positions of Global CIO and CEO of Cloud and Security at Bharti Airtel, one of the world’s largest telecommunications operators, leading large-scale digitization initiatives.
Her background also includes executive roles at BBVA, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, and HSBC, as well as consulting work for airlines such as British Airways and Qantas. Additionally, Mehta serves on the board of Lloyds Banking Group and is the Vice Chair of the board of TM Forum, a key international organization in the digital transformation of the technology sector.

Harmeen Mehta has been recognized for her leadership and contributions to the technology sector with awards such as the MIT Sloan CIO Leadership Award, the TM Forum’s Global CIO of the Year award, and the Women of the Decade in Innovation & Leadership from the Women Economic Forum.
