Pure Storage Expands Portworx to Kubernetes and KubeVirt with Version 3.3

In the context of the KubeCon event, Pure Storage announced the update of its Portworx platform with the launch of Portworx Enterprise 3.3, a version that strengthens its data management proposition for Kubernetes environments and now also extends to KubeVirt, the project that enables the management of virtual machines as native workloads in Kubernetes.

With this evolution, Portworx reinforces its position as a comprehensive solution for data storage management in container and virtualization environments, offering a unified approach that allows teams to work efficiently without relying on multiple tools or processes.

Unified Management of Containers and Virtual Machines

Among the main highlights of Portworx Enterprise 3.3 is the ability to operate with a single workflow for applications that combine containers and virtual machines, which significantly simplifies operations in hybrid environments. Additionally, being independent of the underlying storage, this solution can be implemented on both Pure Storage infrastructure and systems from other vendors.

The new version also introduces RWX Block for virtual machines running on Kubernetes via KubeVirt, in both FlashArray environments and third-party infrastructures, enabling high read and write speeds, ensuring optimal performance for demanding workloads.

Granular Backups and Disaster Recovery

Another notable feature is the synchronized disaster recovery, which now also applies to virtual machines running on Kubernetes. This feature ensures business continuity without data loss. Additionally, file-level backups for Linux virtual machines have been incorporated, providing greater granularity in backup and restoration processes.

Expanded Compatibility and Integrations

Portworx 3.3 strengthens its ecosystem with official integrations with the KubeVirt platforms from Suse, Spectro Cloud, and KuberMatic, while maintaining its collaboration with Red Hat. This strategy allows Pure Storage to position itself as a key player in data orchestration in cloud-native and virtualized environments, bringing together the best of both worlds under a single solution.

Commitment to Efficiency and Performance

With this update, Pure Storage responds to the growing needs of companies seeking automation, elasticity, and cost efficiency in their data infrastructures. Portworx Enterprise 3.3 represents a strong step toward consolidating a platform that not only manages containers but also natively embraces virtualization in Kubernetes as an essential component of the modern digital workplace.
