Databricks Acquires BladeBridge to Accelerate Enterprise Database Migration

Databricks has announced the acquisition of BladeBridge, a company specializing in automated solutions for the migration of enterprise databases. This acquisition will allow Databricks to facilitate and optimize the migration of legacy data warehouses such as Snowflake, Teradata, and Redshift to Databricks SQL, its AI-powered data analytics platform.

Boosting data warehouse modernization

More and more companies are seeking to modernize their fragmented data infrastructures and migrate them to more efficient, AI-ready environments. Databricks SQL has been one of the fastest-growing platforms in this area, surpassing an annualized revenue of $600 million after growing more than 150% in the last year.

BladeBridge has developed one of the most advanced automation solutions for data migration. Its technology, based on artificial intelligence, allows for the conversion of code from over 20 enterprise data warehouses and ETL tools with high precision while significantly reducing manual effort.

“Databricks SQL is the fastest-growing data warehouse in the market. With BladeBridge’s integration, we can further accelerate the transition from legacy systems at lower cost and effort for businesses,” stated Ali Ghodsi, co-founder and CEO of Databricks.

A network of strategic partners

BladeBridge has been a key ally for major consulting firms and data integration companies such as Accenture, Capgemini, Celebal Tech, Ness Digital, and Tredence. Its technology enables organizations to gain a clear view of the migration scope, apply AI-based code reconfiguration, and easily validate migrated systems.

“We have collaborated with BladeBridge on over a hundred enterprise database migrations. With their integration into Databricks, we look forward to continuing to execute successful projects with greater speed and accuracy,” emphasized Ranjit Tinaikar, CEO of Ness Digital.

This acquisition strengthens Databricks’ strategy to help companies modernize their data infrastructure and accelerate AI adoption.

Databricks strengthens its leadership in the data and AI sector

The purchase of BladeBridge comes at a crucial time for Databricks, which recently closed a $15 billion funding round, placing its valuation at $62 billion. The company expects to achieve an annualized revenue of $3 billion and reach positive cash flow in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025.

With over 10,000 organizations in its ecosystem, including companies like Block, Comcast, Condé Nast, Rivian, and Shell, Databricks is establishing itself as a leader in data-driven digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

With this acquisition, the company aims to position itself as the definitive solution for companies to transition from traditional data warehouses to open, flexible architectures optimized for AI.
