Hyundai Mobis Unveils Holographic Display on Windshield: The Future of Automotive Technology at CES 2025

Hyundai Mobis, a global leader in automotive component supply, revealed a revolutionary holographic display in the windshield at CES 2025, a technology that redefines how drivers interact with information in their vehicles. This system, developed in collaboration with ZEISS, a globally renowned optics company, transforms the windshield into an interactive screen without the need for additional physical devices.

A New Dimension in Vehicle Information

The holographic display from Hyundai Mobis projects essential information such as driving data, navigation, and playlists directly onto the lower part of the windshield. This technology, exclusively integrated into the Kia EV9 for demonstration at CES 2025, allows drivers to enjoy a more immersive and intuitive experience without taking their eyes off the road.

From the outside, the windshield appears to be a conventional transparent glass, but inside, the technology provides sharp images and vibrant colors, even under intense sunlight. This is made possible by a specialized film with a Holographic Optical Element (HOE) that uses light diffraction to project images directly into the driver’s eyes.

Hyundai Mobis-ZEISS Collaboration: The Path to the Future

At CES, Hyundai Mobis CEO Lee Gyu Suk and ZEISS CEO Karl Lamprecht met to review advancements in holographic technology and explore future collaboration opportunities. This project marks a milestone in the partnership between the two companies, which plan to complete preliminary development by mid-2026 and launch the technology to the market in 2027.

“We are committed to maximizing technological synergy and bringing this advancement to the global automotive market,” stated Lee Gyu Suk. According to ZEISS, holographic technology has the potential to redefine standards for vehicle display systems, offering a safe and efficient solution for drivers and passengers.

A Hands-On Experience at CES 2025

At its booth at CES, Hyundai Mobis offered global visitors and clients the opportunity to experience this technology firsthand, alongside 16 other strategic products covering electrification components, vehicle electronic systems, chassis, and lighting.

The company organized over 30 meetings with partners from around the world, emphasizing its commitment to global growth and leadership in the mobility of the future.
