T-Systems and Cynerio strengthen cybersecurity in the healthcare sector with the launch of Cynerio NDR-H solution

T-Systems, the digitalization services division of the Deutsche Telekom Group, and Cynerio, a leader in securing medical devices, OT, and IoT in the healthcare sector, have expanded their strategic alliance with the launch of the Cynerio NDR-H solution. This technology is designed to enhance detection and response in hospital and healthcare networks, a sector increasingly impacted by cyberattacks. According to recent reports, during the first six months of 2024, healthcare organizations in Spain and Portugal experienced an average of 2,361 cyberattacks per week per company.

Fernando Hernández, Senior Account Manager of the Health Sales Unit at T-Systems, emphasized the importance of protecting the healthcare sector due to the high volume of threats: “Protecting all areas of the healthcare sector is critical. To ensure the health of citizens, it is essential to have robust security systems, and Cynerio offers solutions specifically designed for medical devices, making it the best defense system for the challenges faced by healthcare organizations.”

The new Cynerio NDR-H solution is based on generative artificial intelligence (IAGen) and machine learning (ML), significantly improving threat detection rates. Unlike traditional network protection systems, such as firewalls or EDR and XDR solutions, this tool integrates with other defenses to cover security gaps and provide real-time visibility into the security of connected medical devices. It has already been implemented in numerous hospitals worldwide, stopping over 250 ransomware attacks to date.

Daniel Madero W., Country Manager of Cynerio, highlighted the company’s commitment to transforming cybersecurity in the healthcare sector: “With NDR-H, we provide proactive defense against threats such as malware, ransomware, and patient data theft, covering all connected technologies. Our collaboration with T-Systems will enable this technology to reach more hospitals in Spain, ensuring strong cybersecurity tailored to the sector’s needs.”

In addition to protecting against ongoing and future attacks, Cynerio NDR-H allows monitoring and analyzing all network traffic, identifying potential vulnerabilities in connected devices. The solution is specifically designed for hospital environments, allowing it to detect anomalous behaviors, such as unauthorized communications between devices or data being sent to suspicious locations. It also offers integration with existing systems and provides access to detailed logs and comprehensive forensic analysis for a quick and effective response to incidents.

This release represents a significant advancement in protecting critical healthcare infrastructures, providing unified defense against threat vectors affecting the healthcare sector, from IT systems to IoT, IoMT, and OT devices. With the addition of the Cynerio NDR-H solution, T-Systems and Cynerio reinforce their commitment to securing medical devices in the face of growing cyber threats.
