Sage launches Europe’s first AI-based accounting assistant

Sage, a leader in technology for accounting, finance, HR, and payroll for SMEs, has announced the availability of Sage Copilot, its new AI-driven assistant, for users of Sage Active, their innovative cloud product designed for accounting and sales management in SMEs and accounting firms in Europe.

With this launch, small businesses in Spain, France, and Germany using Sage Active are the first on continental Europe to benefit from an AI-based accounting assistant. Sage Copilot is designed to increase the efficiency of SMEs and their accountants by automating routine tasks and optimizing workflows. Additionally, it provides unique recommendations and analysis by constantly identifying errors, patterns, and opportunities, enabling users to make faster and more informed decisions.

“Since 2016, we have been pioneers in AI-driven solutions that empower our SME and accountant clients,” explains Neal Watkins, EVP of Accounting & HR Division at Sage. “Sage Copilot marks a significant milestone in our commitment to boosting productivity and helping small businesses make smarter and faster decisions. By integrating our generative AI assistant into Sage Active, we are not just providing a tool; we are offering a trusted partner that allows business owners to streamline daily tasks and approach decisions with greater confidence.”

Continuously developed for and with customers

Sage is developing Sage Copilot to meet the evolving needs of SMEs and accountants, especially in a constantly changing legislative and regulatory environment for the accounting and tax sector across Europe, such as upcoming electronic invoicing mandates. Sage Copilot is designed to quickly adapt and improve its capabilities based on collaboration and feedback from Sage users, ensuring it continues to address real-world scenarios.

Users of Sage Active will immediately benefit from practical insights provided by Sage Copilot on their company’s financial health, relevant insights, reminders about outstanding invoices, and AI-generated notes to support their communications with clients, suppliers, and external collaborators. Future productivity enhancements, such as anomaly detection, will further improve workflows, helping businesses anticipate potential issues and enhance efficiency.

“The integration of Sage Copilot with Sage Active has the potential to change the game for SMEs like ours,” says Patrick Russo of PRussoLive, a Sage Active customer. “By continuously analyzing our business data and translating it into clear insights, we can respond quickly and confidently. We are really excited about their personalized recommendations, as we believe they will not only allow us to stay up to date but also stay one step ahead.”

Elevating the role of accountants, improving client relationships

For accountants, Sage Copilot and Sage Active will revolutionize collaboration and communication with their clients. By automating the process of collecting and aggregating data within a large shared ledger, it will significantly reduce the time and effort spent on these manual tasks, while minimizing the chance of errors.

This enables accountants to go beyond traditional accounting processes and cycles, providing proactive real-time information. These insights will allow accountants to anticipate client needs and offer more strategic advice, becoming even more valuable partners in the SME ecosystem.

“Sage’s commitment to strengthening the relationship between accountants and clients is evident in their forward-thinking solutions,” adds Carlos Pinto of Groupe SECAR. “Sage Copilot seamlessly integrates into Sage Active, providing clear and accessible analysis that facilitates our work. It is a great tool that supports both accountants and clients with valuable AI-driven insights.”
