The Andalusian government has taken a significant step in its technological modernization project by receiving ten bids for the construction of its new Data Processing Center (CPD). This advancement was announced by Antonio Sanz, counselor of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue, and Administrative Simplification, during the Technological Meeting ‘The Data Center in the Public Sector’ organized by Spain DC in Seville.
Project details
The new CPD will be located in the old building of the Palenque on the Cartuja Island, now known as the Scientific and Technological Park of the Cartuja in Seville. The project has the following characteristics:
– Total budget: 34.1 million euros
– 24.2 million allocated to construction
– 8.8 million for the supply of climate and energy equipment
– Surface: 5,150 square meters
– Buildability: 6,240 square meters
The groundbreaking is expected to take place at the end of December or beginning of January.

Innovative features
Counselor Sanz highlighted some key features of the new CPD:
– It will implement a hybrid cloud solution to host future government services
– Its design is based on sustainability, reliability, modularity, and energy efficiency criteria
– It will innovate with a gas cooling system through direct expansion, instead of the traditional water-based system
Andalusia’s digital strategy
The construction of the CPD is part of a broader digitalization strategy of the Andalusian government, which includes:
– Government and data analytics: A contract of over 14 million euros to establish the Data Governance Excellence Office and Data Analytics Factory.
– Andalusia Cloud Strategy 2030: Currently in the approval phase, it aims to promote the use of cloud infrastructures in the government.
– Andalusia Digital Law (LADI): In the processing stage, this law aims to foster the digital transformation of the region.
Long-term goals
The Andalusian government has set ambitious goals for its digital transformation:
– Offer 100% digital public services by 2030
– Turn technology into the region’s third economic engine, along with tourism and agriculture
– Implement inclusive, transversal, and sustainable digitalization
Counselor Sanz emphasized the importance of these projects to improve public services and anticipate the needs of citizens, relying on data governance to ensure the quality of information used in decision-making.
Manuel Giménez, CEO of Spain DC, highlighted the potential of Andalusia in the Data Center sector, noting its representation of 13% of the country’s GDP, its resources in renewable energies, and its commitment to innovation and digitalization.
