SAP begins a new era driven by AI from its state-of-the-art headquarters in Madrid

The technology multinational SAP has taken a significant step in its trajectory in Spain with the opening of its new headquarters in Madrid. This event marks the beginning of a new stage characterized by the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its operations and services.

Return to the heart of the capital

After two decades, SAP returns to the core of Madrid, establishing itself in a modern building in the AZCA area. The new facilities not only represent a change in location, but also a qualitative leap in terms of sustainability and technological advancements.

A technological hub for Southern Europe

The choice of Madrid as the central headquarters to lead SAP’s operations in the Southern European region is not a coincidence. Carlos Lacerda, Senior Vice President and General Manager of SAP for this region, highlights:

“Spain has become the technological hub of Southern Europe. It has all the necessary characteristics for it: geographical location, climate, quality of life, and talent.”

From this new base, SAP will manage its activities in Spain, Greece, Israel, Portugal, and Turkey.

AI as an engine of change

Jose Valles, General Manager of SAP Spain, emphasizes the importance of AI in this new stage:

“We are embarking on an incredibly exciting stage, at a time when Artificial Intelligence opens up a new dimension in all areas. This headquarters represents a return to the company’s origins and, just as SAP once helped modernize the Spanish business fabric with its business management solutions, it is now in a privileged position to help organizations incorporate AI into their businesses.”

Sustained growth and expansion of the ecosystem

The evolution of SAP in Spain is reflected in compelling figures:

  • Revenue has quintupled in the last 20 years, from 127 million euros in 2004 to 641 million in 2023.
  • The number of employees in Spain has multiplied by five.
  • The customer portfolio has quadrupled, with 80% of them being SMEs.

Furthermore, SAP’s partner ecosystem continues to expand, currently consisting of 115 partners and a community of 20,000 consultants.

Commitment to sustainability and well-being

The new SAP offices in Madrid are not only a center of technological innovation but also an example of commitment to sustainability and employee well-being. The building, owned by MERLIN Properties, has the Edge certification, making it one of the most technologically advanced in terms of energy efficiency and comfort for its users.

Future outlook

With this new headquarters, SAP not only consolidates its presence in Spain but also positions itself as a key player in the digital transformation of Spanish and Southern European companies. The company is preparing to lead the integration of AI into business applications, maintaining its commitment to innovation and sustainable development.
