Air France has announced a significant innovation in its onboard connectivity service, marking a milestone in its premium positioning strategy. Starting in 2025, the French airline will progressively implement a free broadband Wi-Fi service on all its aircraft, promising a “home-like” connection experience for all its passengers.
A Connection for Everyone
The new service will be available in all classes of travel, from economy to first class. Passengers will be able to access this high-speed connectivity simply by logging in with their Flying Blue account, the loyalty program of the Air France-KLM group. For those who are not members, the option to create a free account onboard in a few clicks will be offered.
Cutting-Edge Technology
To bring this ambitious project to life, Air France has chosen Starlink as the provider, known for operating the largest constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit. This technology promises to offer a stable, fast, and secure connection, even in the most remote areas of the planet.
Complete Multimedia Experience
With this new connectivity infrastructure, passengers will be able to enjoy a wide range of online activities during their flights:
- Stay in touch with friends and family
- Follow real-time news
- Play online multiplayer games
- Watch TV shows, movies, and series on streaming
The company ensures that users will be able to connect multiple devices simultaneously, whether smartphones, tablets, or laptops.
Gradual Implementation
Air France plans to gradually equip its entire fleet, including regional aircraft, with this technology starting in the summer season of 2025. During the transition period, the airline will maintain its current connectivity offering:
- A free “messages” voucher for Flying Blue members
- Payment options for other internet uses
Passengers in La Première (first class) will continue to enjoy direct connection without changes.
This strategic move by Air France not only significantly enhances the flight experience for its passengers but also positions it at the forefront of aviation connectivity, setting a new standard in the commercial aviation industry.
