Sophos, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, has announced that its product Sophos Firewall has been included in the Catalog of ICT Security Products and Services (CPSTIC) of the National Cryptologic Center (CCN), obtaining a “high” rating in the ENS Category. This recognition certifies that Sophos Firewall meets the requirements of the National Security Scheme, ensuring its suitability for use by Public Administrations in Spain.
The CCN, an agency under the National Intelligence Center (CNI), is responsible for ensuring Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the Public Sector and in systems handling classified information. The STIC Catalog provides a list of ICT security products with proven security guarantees, aimed at public and private entities that provide services to these institutions.
Sophos Firewall is a comprehensive network security solution that combines advanced firewall capabilities, threat protection, web filtering, application control, and an intrusion prevention system. Its design supports high availability and performance through clustering and load balancing, in addition to including user identity controls and detailed reports and analysis, making it a suitable solution for networks of any size.
Since 2020, the STIC Catalog also includes two other Sophos products: Sophos Intercept X Advanced with EDR and Sophos EDR. Sophos Intercept X Advanced provides advanced protection for workstations and servers, especially against ransomware, fileless, and zero-day attacks. It includes advanced detection and response capabilities (EDR) that allow organizations to proactively investigate and track threats.
Ricardo Maté, vice president of Sophos Iberia, stated: “We are extremely proud that Sophos Firewall has been integrated into the CCN’s Catalog of ICT Products and Services, along with other Sophos products. This recognition demonstrates our strong commitment to protecting public administrations against cyberattacks. According to our annual report ‘The State of Ransomware 2024,’ state public bodies account for 68% of cyber threats globally, the highest attack rate among all sectors.”
With this inclusion, Sophos reinforces its presence in the ICT security market, emphasizing the importance of properly protecting public institutions in an increasingly threatened environment by cyberattacks.
