Diego Martínez assumes the presidency and CEO of Ericsson Iberia

Diego Martínez has been appointed as the new president of Ericsson in the Iberia region, which includes Spain, Portugal, Andorra, and Gibraltar, and CEO of Ericsson Spain. Martínez will assume these positions starting on November 1, 2024.

Martínez joins Ericsson from MASORANGE, where he served as the managing director of customers and product. With over 24 years of experience in the Orange Group, he has held various leadership roles in finance, sales, and marketing, both in telecommunications and financial services. His career includes international responsibilities in France and Romania.

Jenny Lindqvist, senior vice president and head of Ericsson in Europe and Latin America, expressed her excitement about Martínez’s appointment, highlighting his extensive experience and industry knowledge. "Diego brings a valuable service provider perspective to our team. I also want to express my gratitude to Jorge Navais, who has shown strong leadership during this interim period," Lindqvist commented.

In his statements, Martínez emphasized his enthusiasm for the challenges facing the telecommunications industry. "Ericsson has been a key player in the development of connectivity and digitalization and will continue to be essential in the upcoming new era. The consolidation of 5G and the transformation of production models represent exciting challenges that I embrace with great enthusiasm," Martínez stated.

Diego Martínez succeeds Jorge Navais, who held the position on an interim basis following the departure of Andrés Vicente on May 1. Vicente assumed the role of vice president of Ericsson and head of business in Southeast Asia and India. Navais will return to his regular position as head of the global Telefónica account, continuing his valuable contribution to the management team of Ericsson Iberia.
