Cambium Networks has revealed a strategic collaboration with TMA Technology Solutions, ComEd, QUILT Corporation, and NODE Networks to address the digital divide in underserved communities in Chicago. This ambitious initiative will deploy a 401-mile fiber network across Cook County and the south and west areas of Chicago, with the addition of 30 strategic interconnection points and the construction of additional fiber capacity.
ComEd will lead the development of a new low-cost last-mile infrastructure, benefiting 24 communities and over 440,000 households. This infrastructure will be complemented by last-mile connectivity provided by NODE Networks, using Cambium Networks’ cnWave 60 GHz technology, enterprise Wi-Fi, cnMatrix Ethernet switches, and XGS PON to create a hybrid fiber solution. This approach aims to reduce deployment costs, accelerate implementation, and significantly reduce the digital divide in the region.
The collaboration underscores the transformative impact that strategic partnerships can have on infrastructure and digital inclusion. The combined efforts of Cambium Networks, ComEd, QUILT Corporation, and NODE Networks promise a significant improvement in high-speed internet access for thousands of families in Chicago.
Morgan Kurk, President and CEO of Cambium Networks, emphasized, “This collaboration is a testament to our core corporate values and commitment to ensuring that all communities have access to reliable, high-speed internet. Partnering with TMA Technology Solutions, ComEd, QUILT, and NODE Networks allows us to deliver cutting-edge connectivity solutions that will drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for thousands of families.”
