T-Systems has established a new Private Cloud region for southern Europe in Barcelona, consisting of two data centers that virtually act as a single entity (Twin-DC). These mission-critical data centers, with TIERIII certification, are located in Sant Boi and Cerdanyola del Vallès respectively.
Additionally, this new cloud region has become one of six centers in the world with a Future Cloud Infrastructure platform, alongside Germany, the United States, Switzerland, Austria, and the Netherlands. FCI is a managed private cloud service that bridges the gap between legacy and on-premise systems, as well as between private and public clouds. This system allows companies to operate their services in a hybrid cloud from a single infrastructure, promoting agility and flexibility, reducing costs, and providing a secure environment for data protection.
With these facilities and the FCI platform, this region strengthens the technological infrastructure of the Deutsche Telekom Group multinational and consolidates its network of data centers worldwide. During his visit to the facilities, Ferri Abolhassan, CEO of T-Systems and member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom, stated that “this new cloud region is a demonstration of T-Systems’ strong commitment to the development of robust and high-quality technological infrastructure that will support the growing digitalization and the development of data economy in Europe in the coming years.”
Thus, T-Systems continues to consolidate its Cloud services in Spain, a pillar of its growth in 2023. Last year, the company maintained a growth rate of more than double digits, supported by an increase of more than 20% in digitalization services compared to 2022 and in Cloud services that, defying market trends, continue to grow at a rate above 10%. “This region places us as a key player within the group for the development of Cloud services and consolidates our position as one of the leading providers in Spain,” highlighted Osmar Polo, managing director of T-Systems Iberia.
From this new cloud region, services are currently offered to various public organizations and institutions that serve more than 20 million citizens throughout Spain, and to hundreds of factories in critical industries such as automotive, food, construction, etc.
T-Systems is strongly committed to sustainability, which is also reflected in its data centers. The technology multinational is a signatory of the European Pact for climate-neutral data centers and has also made investments to promote the energy efficiency of its data centers and the use of renewable energies.
